You what?! Would love to know who would pay this to spend a night in Embrace.

Glad they didn't charge on the door at the house party I was at :hihi:

Dulos were charging £10 just to get in. It's not even a club for crying out loud, it's a pub. Shocking stuff.

A lot of pubs & clubs shot themselves in the foot on new year's eve 1999 trying to charge silly money entrance fees. For the sake of trying make quick buck on one night many places lost a lot of goodwill and regular custom which in many cases was slow to return. Looks like one or two have done the same again, remember, there are 52 weeks in a year, not one night.

Fuel £10 if a wristband is purchased from Affinity, £12.50 at the door, but they are only open until 3am. There is a afterparty at Affinity until 6am, price to follow.

Even if I had not been booked for parties outside Sheffield at Christmas, I would have thought twice about going to Fuel's NYE party, especially as all the other Gay venues were charging only around 5 to 8 quid...
However, as it said on the flyers, they were planning a spectacular party, and I suppose they had to hike the price to cover various additional costs (Hint!)

I paid £8 to get in Dempseys and I would have only gone up to £10 to get in anywhere. Wouldn't pay 25p to get in Embrace...

That's where we ended up going to see in the new year. Much better value and a great night out.

You only have yourselfs to blame.

Clubs and pubs will charge whatever they can get away with. If no one pays, they'll chase you and beg you to come in.

I went to London - west end, piccadily circus and it was fab, over a million people enjoying the biggest street party.

We went to the Hadfield and it was bloody brilliant. No entrance fees, and they put on a free buffet for everyone :D

You are right Suave. Clubs and pubs will indeed charge what they think they get away with.

As my partner was working on New Years Eve and New Years Day, I opted out of spending the night in a crowded pub/club, and instead saw the New Year in all on my own - sitting in my car by the Humber Bridge, and watching a fantastic fireworks display across the river.

I'm hoping to get to Edinburgh for a furture New Years Eve though, and join in a street party - though Suave's description of London's event might persuade me to head south instead!

Takapuna - 8 quid on the foor or, if your lucky like me, a free entry ticket by a random lady walking west-street. Nice!

In all fairness you would of had to give me alot more than £25 to get into Embrace on NYE or any night of the year for that matter!

I dont agree with all this charging to get into pubs either, if the bouncers have got a bucket near the door i will chucke a quid in as they are working and its only fair...

I refuse on principle to pay anything for the privelidge of going in a Pub just cos it's a special event such as NYE.

Not even the possibility of seeing Keeley at the Robin Hood in Wild West duds persuaded me to part with a fiver last Monday night.
