It is worth a try isn't it? Good luck :)
2001louise 31-12-2007, 14:23 but it has got a game in it and i cant get it out
The_DADDY 31-12-2007, 14:31 but it has got a game in it and i cant get it out
Then be honest with them, tell them you broke it and are willing to pay for repairs and they will probably return your game to when they fix it.
littledale 31-12-2007, 14:32 but it has got a game in it and i cant get it out

The_DADDY 31-12-2007, 14:36 then its still faulty isnt it?
Never mind that it was dropped and she intends to lie to get it fixed or replaced..
And people wonder why society is in the state it is when people are prepared to be so dishonest..

Seriously, chill out.. there are much much worse ways of being diehsonest- it's hardly crime of the centory its it, I would deffo try taking it for (free) repair first, see if it worked. They makes shedloads of money anyway, why not?

How is she a thief? Stop being so dramatic.
If she takes it back to shop and says it dosn`t work(which it dosn`t) then technically speaking she isn`t lying, so therefore is not being fraudulent!:D

I have to agree. At the end of the day the console dosn't work, tell them it has broken (which it has) and that there is a game still in there. If you have had it under 12 months they will either replace it for you or send it away for repair (which if this happens and it is found that it is your fault, they will ring you and inform you of what the cost will be, and then you will instruct them to continue repair or not).
My daughter's DS (which was purchased from argos) broke within 2 months, Argos had to send it back to Nintendo which took 8 weeks for them to repair and return as it was febuary and there had been lots of them returned with it being near Xmas.
Let us know how you get on.
The_DADDY 31-12-2007, 15:48 I just dont see why everyone is finding it so hard to understand.
You walk in the shop and say.
'Hi, my Wii isnt working. I dropped it and it broke. Can you please fix it and tell why much it would cost?
Thankyou.'
Have a nice day..:)

I's nice that you are so honest but for something like this where I could possibly get away with paying nothing to have it repaired as opposed to forking out money (esp. at this time of year!), I would. Worth a try eh! But you obviously have more morals than me hehe :hihi:
Happy New Year! x

Our XBOX 360 broke (spontaneously overheated & died) and we rang Microsoft helpline and not only did they replace it withouta quibble, they paid for a courier to collect dead one & bring new one.
However, we've since ditched it in favour of a Wii!!!!

it will go to a repairer if its over a certain time limit, usually 28 days. If they consider it accidentally damaged they will not replace it

iv taken a damaged item back way after 28 days but i suppose it depends on the companys policy.

See, it wasn't so bad doing it the right way (aimed more at all those people telling you to lie, than at you!).
That sounds like pretty good customer service too!
take it back.all new items come with a 12 month guarantee
Which doesn't cover accidental damage, though I'd still be inclined to try;)
wizadooo 02-01-2008, 19:42 You could always be really honest and claim on your household Insurance for accidental damage if all else fails ?
2001louise 02-01-2008, 19:53 You could always be really honest and claim on your household Insurance for accidental damage if all else fails ?
tried that already, but my insurance company wouldnt paid out as i have only got standard accidental damage and it doesnt cover games consoles

Read the OP before you type!
F. Sidebottom 03-01-2008, 10:14 On the way home last night I had an accident in my car.
It's a newish car - 3 months old.
I was driving into my drive, and I accidently ran into the garage door. It's a new house - 3 months old - so the garage door is new.
Anyway, the garage door is now totaly ruined, and so are the lights on my car.
And in having this bump, I managed to hurt my back.
My question is this:
Should I claim on my car warranty for the damge I did. After all, the lights no longer 'work'? I know isn't the fault of the manufacturer, it's my fault. But hey, everyone does it. And I know that the cost of this will be passed on to other drivers by increased car prices, but hey, everyone does it.
And should I claim a new garage door because that doen't work too? I know isn't the fault of the manufacturer, it's my fault. But hey, everyone does it. And I know that the cost of this will be passed on to other garage door owners by increased prices, but hey, everyone does it.
And what about my back? Should I go on the sick/incapacity etc? I know it's not the fault of the government, but hey, everyone does it. And I know that the cost of this will be passed on to everyone else in the country who pays tax, but hey, everyone does it.
LesMcQueen 08-01-2008, 13:55 rang nintendo up and explained to them that i had dropped it accidentally, told them about the game inside, they are sending me a prepaid package to send it back and they will repair it under the warranty, if i do need to pay, all i will have to pay is £28 which i dont mind paying :D
Nintendo are pretty good in that respect.
There does appear to be a recurring problem with the disc eject mechanism where the gears get jogged out of position or one of the cogs break. Sounds like yours may be down to 'jogged gears'.
