I think you always get found out anyway lyndix 30-12-2007, 15:49 Yes, all the time!:D Its perfectly fine to tell lies as long as you don`t mind suffering the consequences when you get found out to be a BARE FACED LYING GIT! bunnykins 30-12-2007, 15:50 Yes, all the time!:D Its perfectly fine to tell lies as long as you don`t mind suffering the consequences when you get found out to be a BARE FACED LYING GIT! lol well said:hihi: mojo1 30-12-2007, 15:53 It depends on the lie and the situation, whether or not it's to spare someones feelings. For example if they turn up with a horrendous bouffant and ask you if you like their new do. Do you say a) no you look like a bad drag queen, or b) yes very nice. sTaGeWaLkEr 30-12-2007, 15:54 Those who feel the need to lie are clearly overcompensating for something that's missing in their lives. I was saying to Madonna only this morning, while cruising over San Francisco bay, that I find it tacky, tasteless and unecessary. She agreed as she popped another cheesey wotsit. I think we've all been quilty on the odd occasion of telling the odd tiny little porker - usually to save our bacon or to protect the feelings of someone else - but I have little time for people who perpetually tell lies. bunnykins 30-12-2007, 15:55 mojo1 o agree with you on that one a small white lie i suppose isnt to bad when the truth could hurt someones feelings:) *vanessa* 30-12-2007, 15:59 no i never, ever, ever tell lies:| lyndix 30-12-2007, 16:01 no i never, ever, ever tell lies:| LIAR:hihi::hihi: Agent Orange 30-12-2007, 16:01 We are all guilty of it and those on here who say they havent once told I lie, then they have now :D jennycakes 30-12-2007, 16:02 apparently some people on sf tell lies to gain employment. according to a pm i have just recieved. and that not on, bunnykins 30-12-2007, 16:08 apparently some people on sf tell lies to gain employment. according to a pm i have just recieved. and that not on, so sad but true jennycake, use the yellow pages next time, sTaGeWaLkEr 30-12-2007, 16:12 Mod note: Just a warning - if this gets personal - it's highly likely to be pulled. bunnykins 30-12-2007, 16:13 Mod note: Just a warning - if this gets personal - it's highly likely to be pulled. no probs no names have been mentioned by anyone on this thread, warning noted:) sTaGeWaLkEr 30-12-2007, 16:14 Good good :) cressida 30-12-2007, 16:17 yes I have told lies, I am now hanging my head in shame (and there goes another one) bunnykins 30-12-2007, 16:19 yes I have told lies, I am now hanging my head in shame (and there goes another one) we all do little ones here's my usual one ill just be 5 mins on the pc,lol:hihi::hihi: half hour later:hihi: Twinpeaks 30-12-2007, 16:27 have told a whopper recently but yes all the time if it suits the situation :o Minesadouble 30-12-2007, 16:36 Yes of course I have ....Hasn't everyone ?:suspect: Like someone said, depends on the situation, sometimes Lies seem more applicable than the Truth ....:| miniminch 30-12-2007, 16:40 Yes of course I have ....Hasn't everyone ?:suspect: Like someone said, depends on the situation, sometimes Lies seem more applicable than the Truth ....:| we have to lie to exist sTaGeWaLkEr 30-12-2007, 16:40 'Sometimes, if the only thing to be gained by telling someone the truth is that you hurt them, then maybe it's not always the best thing.' Ally Macbeal Craig7777 30-12-2007, 16:40 I'm god So, no i don't tell lies :) whitewitch 30-12-2007, 17:07 you need a good memory to tell lies and get away with it, my memory is shocking. I can not say i never lie as that would be lieing. I lied to my daughter that father christmas was coming, im going to lie when shes asks me where her hamsters gone (which died on thursday, shes been at her dads so doesnt know) but i will only tell the little white lies to protect my daughter. I dont lie to my partner or anyone else Jabberwocky 30-12-2007, 17:31 Im constantly telling porkies and Im proud of it! I wouldnt believe a single bloody word that comes out of my lying gob if I was ever unfortunate enough to meet me. scarby 30-12-2007, 17:33 I work with a compulsive liar.. every bloody thing he says is a load of tosh. He basically acts like a 5 year old, making up stories etc... And he's about 35 years of age! shanhancoen 30-12-2007, 19:46 best thing is when you know someone is lying and you sit there listening to there stories thinking 'lying get' but just 'mmm' and 'ar' and 'really' at there every word. My favourite is telling my OH iv had that top/shoes for ages its just that iv just never worn them. he believes me so either hes stupid or im a good porky piar. Swan_Vesta 30-12-2007, 20:02 It depends. I am horrifically truthful when it matters, I am a firm believer in "Tell the truth and shame the Devil" and pride myself on not bullsh*tting people, However, if it's a work thing where I've got something to gain then I'll lie like a cheap watch..... probably because it doesn't matter. I'm just a duplicitous 'word which is several letters away from Aunt'. cgksheff 30-12-2007, 20:21 No. I love the forum insistence on minimum number of characters! shanhancoen 30-12-2007, 20:23 so you have never told a little tinsy winsy lie.. purdyamos 30-12-2007, 20:25 I have a reputation for being honest and straightforward, and it's one of my trademark traits so it's important to me to maintain some integrity. I try not to be tactless when asked those 'white lie' type questions, I'd prefer to say something neutral or look for a good point to say instead rather than be dishonest, or at least try to phrase the truth in a gentle way. People who know me, know me well enough not to expect flattery-porkies. In fact people tend to ask me my opinion because they know I will be honest and they trust that. poppins 30-12-2007, 21:08 I have a reputation for being honest and straightforward, and it's one of my trademark traits so it's important to me to maintain some integrity. We each have a general reputation on SF. I'm proud of mine. God help you if you're proud of yours... ;) Why don't you just say what you mean, or are you too cowardly to be honest? :) The Giraffe knows how much of the Truth Drug I took over Xmas - and I passed the test. :hihi: hennypenny 30-12-2007, 21:37 I try not to tell lies. Honesty is very important to me and I will think less of someone if I find out they have lied to me. Like Purdy, if someone asks me to comment on a new look, or new clothes etc, I will try to find something positive to say about it, or try to keep quiet if possible, but I am in deep trouble with my mother in law for not liking the pullover she bought for my husband and for being unable to lie when asked outright. HappyHoosier 30-12-2007, 21:50 I lie all the time, but only for the sake of my fellow human beings. I lie when: 1.) the person can't do anything to change/improve the situation and the truth would be hurtful to them: Spinach in the teeth = tell the truth. Looks fat in bridal gown on wedding day = lie like a rug. 2.) the truth would cause the person unnecessary distress: My mom, who can't drive anymore, asks if my 35-minute commute to work was dangerous because of the icy roads = lie, and lie some more. A fellow driver asks same question = tell the truth. medusa 30-12-2007, 21:55 I'm pathologically honest, but if you take it to the ultimate degree then most bits of tact that make a painful truth bearable are at best a bit of spin and at worst white lies. So do I tell lies? Probably, and if I do then it means that everyone else does too. bunnykins 31-12-2007, 15:12 I'm god So, no i don't tell lies :) yeh righto craig:loopy: Greybeard 31-12-2007, 15:57 Often - usually to save other people's feelings and sometimes to hide my own :D bunnykins 31-12-2007, 18:38 Often - usually to save other people's feelings and sometimes to hide my own :D thats ok then:) craigb 31-12-2007, 20:40 No I never tell lies..... Another thing which could be classed as not a lie is holding your real thoughts as to not offend or hurt some one... as a great man once sang... "is it cruel or kind not to speak my mind and to lie to you, rather than hurt you" catzeyesF 03-01-2008, 16:10 blah blah blahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Andy_sheff 03-01-2008, 16:21 blah blah blahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh good post pal:rolleyes: lubylou 03-01-2008, 16:27 blah blah blahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh If your not interested DONT post :loopy: Jabberwocky 03-01-2008, 16:30 Check catseyesf`s edit message.... I also told a big lie this Christmas but it was a good lie. For Christmas me, my OH, his mum and sister went to spend Christmas at a big hotel in Bridlington. My friend also lives in Bridlington but I kidded her that we were staying at home and his mum and sister were coming to us. I felt really awful telling all the porkies and nearly slipped up a couple of times, but the look on her and her husband's face when me and my OH knocked on their door Christmas Day morning to surprise them was definitely worth it. My friends said that no Christmas present could ever compare with the the one we gave them. And, yes, she has forgiven me for all the 'lies' I told her. catzeyesF 04-01-2008, 08:36 Check catseyesf`s edit message....
