"Former Sheffield United goalkeeper Alan Hodgkinson, 71, was appointed MBE. He made 675 first team appearances for the Blades between 1953 and 1971.

"He is now a goalkeeping coach at Oxford United."

Yes, from across the city, I'm sure we'd all echo our congratulations to 'Hodgy'. He's been a wonderful servant to the game and still maintains his youthful looks. Only because of the brilliant Ron Springett that Hodgy only got 5 caps.
I'd be going back to the 60's re-conversations but Alan was always happy to sign photos and books etc. An honourable man, well-deserving of the honour.

Isn't it just typical, saw a banner on Sky sports that hodgy had been given this award and they only printed that he'd been Manchester Utds goal keeping coach.

Well done Alan, you desrve it.

Well done Alan. Saw you many times.

Played a huge part in us getting to Division one in 1970-71 until the arrival of John Hope.
A great keeper for a little bloke and a great servant to Sheff Utd.
Congratulations Hodgy
