Just thought I'd start a nosey thread with what you're going to be knitting this year.

Personally, I want to make more garments than socks this year. I'd also like to give gloves a go. As I'm in Scotland we get 2 days off at New Year and we take a further 2 to make a nice wee break so I plan on getting a good chunk of knitting time then. What about you lot?

I'm going to try to use up the large amount of laceweight I bought at Harrogate, and finish everything that's been waiting to be sewn up. I'm going to do my best to get through as much of the stash as I can before getting any more. (A girl can dream!)

I have actually made a start on this, as I did about 3 quarters of a feather and fan scarf in Jamieson's ultra over the last few days, I started on the 23rd, and should finish tomorrow. Should look like this (http://jamiesonsshetland.co.uk/servlet/shop/Shop/product?p_id=82165&shop_id=56591) when done.

Sadly your link isn't working for me but having spoken to the ladies at the Jamiesons stall at Harrogate I should imagine the scarf's really pretty. Good luck with it Knitbird.

Im thinking summer for some reason. Things that will be nice for my holidays in May. A couple of cotton bolero cardigans for me and for Freya too. I want something light and bright, Im a bit sick of tweedy mixes and dark colours. In fact Ive got so much I dont know what to start next.

I will certainly be using my new bamboo hooks though. I bought a set and they are excellent, really nice to use. The hook seems to be more sharply defined than on the metal ones, this helps keep wool on better and makes it easier to push through. I thought they might be rough but on the contrary they are very smooth. I might be using the bamboo circular needle too if I can bear to put down the hooks.

I have been good and have finished and sent all of the teacosies. I have sewn up two cardis and finished them completely. I now have one scarf and one baby jumper to complete before I start the mammoth afghan projects.

Over Christmas I knitted a pair of elbow length gloves in Freedom Spirit. Unfortunately they were spirited off to London with my daughter before I could get a photo! I was so pleased with them I intend making another couple of pairs, this time knitting the fingers on dpns to avoid seaming (although this wasn't at all bulky I think knitting in the round would be better). I also intend finishing my Bergere de France trapeze jacket. I rocketed on with it and then left it with most of one sleeve and the collar to do. I also have to sew up a pima cotton baby boat neck sweater and complete 2 sheep tea cosies for mid-January. Daughter number 1 is still waiting for her baker boy hat as is someone else who asked me to knit her one....Thursday night I started a fitted red chunky jumper - for me!!!! I have done the back and front and hope to finish that over the next couple of days. Then I have a pair of socks to start in Baby Llama. I think they will be for my mum to keep her toes cosy :)

Phew! I'm exhausted just reading that, Jill!
I've got Eris to be going on with, which will probably take until next winter :D, I'm doing myself a hat, some fingerless gloves for a friend and there's still the pig to finish...
After that, I've got a long list (because people keep posting links to Knitty/Magknits and other nice patterns and I can't resist :(), I've got a chunky jumper lined up, and a long cardigan that I just have to get the wool for.
Oh, and I fancy doing some socks with the Feelings, after seeing LisaH's!

I've got two lace shawls that are about halfway through to finish, and I'm on the second sleeve of a cardi for me - I hope to get it done it the next few days - my first FO of 2008?
I'm going to have a go at some amigurumi patterns this year I think, along with thinking about tackling the Princess shawl pattern from Heirloom Knitting - think that may be an all year (and 2009/10) project) !

I am going to knit up my entire sock yarn stash. I'm going to attempt to learn as many different techniques as possible whilst doing this and try loads of different patterns. I have so much sock yarn it's gotten scary. :(

I cast on a sock this morning sitting in bed listening to the Archers omnibus. Very decadent.... Am trying a pair on 3mm dpns as being a tight knitter, socks on 2.5mm just dont seem to have the stretch. Thinking I may be able to wear them may spur me on to actually completing a pair! Attempting new techniques is not something I feel I can tackle just yet but who knows what the future may bring - especially with W4B not too far away and AmelieB mastering a whole range of techniques and patterns....

Questions questions. Will I get the rolled neck sweater finished for child 2? Will I complete the cardigan for same child started in June this year? Will I finish the three non descript blankets that are on needles? Will I get the pair of foot coverings finished for the 9th January (sister's birthday - yes of course I will - they do themselves these days!) Will I then go on to finish my Jillpaca foot coverings - one down one to go and they are for ME and are so so so soft.......Also started a buzzy bee foot covering for husband number 1 last night so that pair needs to be finished. I think the answer to these questions will all be yes. I have faith ;)

The tighter the better - you just need to cast on more stitches and use a stretchy ribbing. With socks, the more spi you can get, the better.

AmelieB, you are going to be the world's most prolific sock knitter if you're planning on knitting through your stash this side of Woolfest. I shall stand by to be amazed.

I don't think I'm going to go to Woolfest. Or Skip North. Or even Ally Pally.

My name is Badger and I'm a sock yarnaholic.

This year I intend to make at least one pair of socks a month. Anything else on top of that is a bonus.

If I set myself big goals then I get discouraged if I don't hit them.

Not entirely sure what was wrong with my earlier link. Anyway, here's (http://www.flickr.com/photos/17502581@N08/2150406860/) my scarf (http://www.flickr.com/photos/17502581@N08/2150406112/?rotated=1&cb=1199056883046). It just needs to have the ends sewn in and maybe blocking to show off the lace.

It only took me a week to do! (Though I did have a week off work and a journey on a Virgin train, so a lot of knitting time.)

I tried that but it still felt a bit "snug"! Not ribbed all the way through though???

That looks beautiful Knitbird. Can't believe it took just a week!
I have finished my chunky jumper tonight. May need a trip to the coast to check out it's thermal qualities :)

What I am planning on knitting and what I actually will do are quite different Im afraid. My short term goals are to finish my Feelings rainbow socks, finish Ivy and do a hat as my head is cold - Im thinking maybe Gretel (http://ysolda.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=3)or the Sunflower tam (http://www.snarkland.com/index.php/weblog/comments/sunflower_tam/) (assuming that I am getting Knitting Nature as recommended by AmelieB for my Birthday) at the moment:huh:

I cast on for the Alpine Shrug (http://www.knitrowan.com/html/magazines_slide_show.asp?productCode=ZM42&serial=74&slideSerial=684)from this winter's Rowan today, I got some half-price Big Wool in the John Lewis sale. Got about a third done I think, as it's such big needles. I'll put up a picture in a bit. Can you tell I've beenby myself today?

Welcome to the group:D Your project sounds lovely! We love seeing progress photos - there is a sticky close to the top that tells you how to post your photos. If you have any questions at all feel free to ask - someone can normally either answer or point you to somewhere helpful to look.

Now that is definitely a good use of sock yarn :D

I have finished sock no 1 on the 3mm's and I am quite pleased with it. Must cast on the second sock and get it finished. I have even brought the second Hundertwasser sock home fom the shop (started it in New York in April) with the intention of finishing that too. Tomorrow is a sewing up and finishing bits day....

I think if I did them again I would fudge the toes so they were all one colour. It doenst look like a nipple from the end - more like a small stripe:hihi:

Its Opal feelings 1701 I think. I did end up redoing the cuff 3 times until I was convinced they were going to match Im afraid - I thought I had measured from the change to the dark blue when I started the first pair but it turned out I hadnt:suspect:
