Possibly not the best thing to be recommending here, but, I have found an entry in workplaces on friends reunited site works very well.

I worked at Ashtons on Sydney street and moved with them when they went to Barnsley. I was there for over 12 years in total. Worked in the sales office. Old Mr Wills was around occasionally but he had handed over the day to day running to his son Tim Wills (lovely man - had a lot of respect for him) unlike someother management at that time!!!
What department did you work in? Good chance I may know you

My wife Pauline Habershon worked at Thomas A Ashton's during the 70's.
She remembers all of the people mentioned in the posting including a guy called Barry Austin who at the time was the Hydraulics Manager.

It would be great to see inside the old building now,i was one of the last people out,as me and a mate stripped out all the warehouse, made from Dexion racking.

We conned the bosses,by storing all the rubbish in the celler, after telling them we had hired a number of skips. :D.

Mr Mallaband left about the early 80s, he looked after the leather products, and gloves if I remember right.
