Bloomdido 26-12-2007, 17:03 Vista is an abomination. Go back to XP before it is too late.
muddycoffee 26-12-2007, 18:22 I believe that most people who are having problems with Vista, are having problems because you need to spend some time putting the latest drivers for the bits like the Network Interface Card.
The error codes should give you a clue as to what hardware is giving you problems.

Dont listen to this crap.
The problem you have is nothing to do with vista, its either a faulty part or the way its been put together.
keep us posted
Bloomdido 26-12-2007, 19:45 My vista worked fine. It just didn't do anything my XP didn't and XP did it better in my humble opinion. Then after several months of Vista my machine started switching itself off several times a day despite a reinstallation. Crap? - Try 'opinion' Vanman, I won't be hiring you. I'll go for Donkey instead.
Vista will be scrapped, for it is the modern day Microsoft ME.
presumably your son went for vista for a reason, probably DirectX and Aero as these were the major selling points, so despite my personal dislike of Vista please ignore any advice telling you to change the OS
what stop codes are you getting ?
its my computer this is 1 of the codes that comes up with the memory dump i get different ones everytime

And my money is on im right its not the operating system at all vista or anything else.if you knew anything about me whatso ever you would know why i would have the knowledge but you draw conclusions from the little info you have.

A clue may be in that screendump...
do a google search for "nwifi.sys" and/or any problems associated with it in the microsoft knowledge base.
Good luck!
according to the m$ knowledgebase thats a DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error
or in english, the driver is trying to access pageable memory while using a high interrupt request, which is forbidden
and the driver in question seems to be nwifi.sys
try disabling this driver, you'll lose wifi but you should get to a desktop and that will demonstrate that this is indeed the problem
then look at the properties of nwifi.sys and see who made it and if it is certified for use on vista
then look and see if there is an update
terminator 28-12-2007, 21:46 There should be a hotfix for this but there again i wouldnt rely on what windows tells you.

where do i find this and how do i disable it do i go into device manager or something
and i also get others aswel so if its a case of disableing drivers and updating them then theres a lot to do
i would like more info on this on how to resolve these problems
thanks:thumbsup:
terminator 28-12-2007, 22:18 http://support.microsoft.com/ph/11732 search it there
GrinderBloke 28-12-2007, 22:29 badboi sounds like you have a more serious problem, you shouldn't be seeing all these errors.
What hardware are you trying to instal onto?
terminator 28-12-2007, 23:03 might pay to see your specs of the machine as well board/sound/video/memory ect ect
amd athlon(tm)64 x2 dual core 5000+ with 2gb of ram
thats the spec of my machine
GrinderBloke 29-12-2007, 12:02 What motherboard, video card and other components are you using?
lackofgrip 29-12-2007, 12:18 my freind had this problem turned out to be a faulty motherboard
my freind had this problem turned out to be a faulty motherboard
that could prove expensive if you have an OEM copy of Vista, I'm not sure if M$ allow mobo swaps, you may have to phone them and explain if this is the case
how to disable drivers in Vista (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927525/en-us)
newvanandman 29-12-2007, 16:39 let me save you some time, its not a vista problem, nor is it a driver problem, have a look at my earlier post. your computer hardware is either poorly sorted or one peice of it has a fault.
how can it possibly be a driver fault when it took two days to get vista to load in the first place?
i personaly would open the box and remove any cables to anything thats not required to run it such as cds, floppy etc.then if there is more than one chip of memory remove all but one(swop after testing) then see how stable that runs.if there is a memory fault then its likley that the install of windows will be corupt and when the fault is found needs to be rerun.
if vista wont load then there is still a fault, when you find the fault vista will run like silk,

listen to man ive seen these errors over and over like i said before dont believe what your pc is telling you also consider either a fault on the hard drive or its instalation once you rule out its not faulty memory dont think co,s its new its perfect.
i have a friend that is a I.T technition at a school and he thinks its something to do with the ram he thinks its not doin its job
