Do you have to pay for this information ?
Ourproperty looks like you have to order the data ?

Why on earth would you want to know how much your neighbour paid for their house ?

Well, you could:

Be selling & want a vague idea what the identical one 2 doors away went for 3 months ago, or...

Be insuring & want an up to date valuation without having to talk to dagnamm estate agents, or...

Maybe wanting to extend & wanting a rough guess of how much a conservatory like theirs 5 doors away adds to the value, or...

Just being a nosey get like the rest of us.

I keep looking at people from work details too. Might have to register twice to double my free searches.

Or I could just get out more :D

if you want to know what houses near you, or anywhere in the UK were sold for just view:

www.nethouseprices.com

You can search back 5 years. If will even have your house sold price on if you bought recently!

That is an excellent site.
I now know exactly how much i bought my house for last year.
My memory is not what it was, what was the post again?

www.ourproperty.co.uk also offersa similar service.

Edit: a mod may want to fix the link provided by the OP since it includes a full stop which causes the page to not load.

Interesting......a house we liked was advertised at just under 90K. It apparently sold for 145K - we didn't stand a chance.

Hopefully these services might do something towards reigning in on estate agents being allowed to play with the market and mess with our heads into the bargain.

Two houses sold on our road last year but the site says it can't find anything.

It depends entirely on which road in Stannington; frequently a road in the UK may have more than one postcode; the street I live on has approx 200 properties, but there are 6 postcodes for this street.

If you put "Stannington"+"S6" into Google you're bound to get a few full postcodes for places in Stannington. Postcodes are made up of several components though, depending on which city, area, road, side of road, etc. Try a few random Stannington postcodes to get a balanced view.

There's a house a few doors down for me which the owners sold to a builder in p/x for a new build in Lodge Moor. There are 2 entries for this on nethouseprice, 10 days apart and £23k difference. Anyone care to defend this mark up?

Well like you said - it was a PX. All PX's are bought at a discount, whether they are cars or houses or computers or whatever.

Very interesting. I put in my Mum and Dads road and a bunch of houses came up. However, the only information it gave was semi or detached. It didn't say how many bedrooms, how many bathrooms or sq footage. How can we find that out to get a closer comparison? Or is that not what this is designed to do? Is it merely to find out what your neighbour paid?

The other website link could not be displayed. Too many ..... at the end. I will copy and paste into my browser and try again.
