Hi, is it ok to clap, and sprinkle water on a naughty boy, when he is pulling the tree down, knocking over the cards, clawing the sofa, climbing up the curtains, and pouncing on grandma cat? :hihi: bless him.

so adorable, but so naughty.

But he needs to learn doesn't he. If i let him terrorise the house, and the older cat, he will never learn.... so thought I should start whilst he is still young.

He's so cute though, purrs all time, and always snuggles up for a cuddle and sleep

He's gorgeous
You'd be amazed how good cats are at disciplining each other ;) so unless he's causing undue stress to grandma cat - I'd be inclined to let her sort him out.

Our cats are old fogies now and I didn't have much to do with their upbringing as kittens - they were my mum's so not really got any experience in it but all I'd say is be careful with clapping because, if it works the same way as in dogs, he can learn to associate the clapping with you and this can make bonding more difficult because you're the big scary one that claps at him.

Other than that - dunno really, like I said I don't have much experience with cats but I don't use aversives like clapping or water in my dog training.

My kitty has been up my tree a few times and it has fallen over in the process. It made me cry other day ,as im hormonal. Hubby found it funny i was sat crying over me tree.I was so mad at tiger but she soon creeped round me like she does. I hate it cos i can't be mad at her. Charlie x

My kitten Oliver also loves the xmas tree, I just put up a small one and hid it in a discreet corner thinking perhaps he wouldn't notice but to no avail :( I have to keep on picking up the baubles daily and the top is forever bent over where he slyly swung on it while I wasn't looking :suspect:
Never mind its all parr for the course eh :hihi: and I still love him just as much even if he is hard work
