Twas the night before Christmas and all round the house
Not a critter was stirring, except Panic Mouse

Its batteries whirred weakly drained almost of juice
From earlier onslaught, when t'kittens were loose

The daft dobe snored loudly and dreamed doggie dreams
Of sunshine and walkies and seaside ice creams

Whilst Ashia the wegie thought fondly of fish
a platter of everything piscine her wish

Minty and Amber both curled up on chairs
Whilst Aero dreamed on with the daft dobe upstairs

On top of the gerbil tank, Charlie slept sound
As Itsy and Bitsy napped safe 'underground'

Meanwhile, in the bathroom, tucked up snug and tight
The gentle cat Beauty slept all through the night

And what of our Alfie, the barmy bengal?
He perched on the fish tank and tried not to fall

One eye on Pooh (cockatiel), Alfie purred
and craftily planned Xmas dinner (roast bird)

And finally, two little kittens slept on
(Just Arnie and Kaboos, now Solo was gone)

All wild-life slept soundly, with crossed fins/wings/paws
Awaiting a visit from old Santa Claws...

aww ta gang - I dont get inspired often these days but just looking at em all lounging about, I had to write something. Perhaps I should have added a verse about the mayhem they'd caused earlier, ripping at wrapped pressies under the 'tree' a sputnik fairy light we've had to bluetack to the coffee table). Chris came downstairs this monring to find presents scattered far and wide over the rug and everything bottle shaped on its side, fortunately not opened. Little darlings.
