It seems that far more people went out on the friday before Xmas this year than the same day last year.......did anyone find places far more crowded?
We did a record breaking day that was way above last year and were packed from Noon to Midnight with only a few 'lulls' between bar crawls.....how was it on West Street and other circuit bar places?

We were a lot busier than last yr......2 9's of handpull alone (a lot since we dont specialise like dove) Full from 2 till 7 standing only mostly, then like you say lulls thru till about 11 depending on bar crawlers. Not record day, that was Newcastle United at SUFC Home but twice as much as a 'good' Friday!

Dont open till 5 today as there is no footy, wonder if tonight will be busy too?

PS We have Bradfield Belgian Blue, Thornbridge Wild Swan, and Thornbridge Kipling Ale. (Devonshire Arms Eccy Rd)

The taxi driver who bought me back from shopping this morning commented he turned his light off after seeing a few too many 'over-lubricatd' individuals lying in the street in Hillsborough.

When I came home around 6pm last night it was crtainly busy on West Street!

I came up west st on way home from work about 3pm and it was just rammed with gangs of (old enough to know better) blokes - I think there must have been three girls on the whole road...

I went out in Derby for our works do. Finished working at 1pm, did secret santa then went to a restaurant for christmas dinner, then went round the bars afterwards, got train back to Sheffield at 10pm.

I think with it being last day at work before Christmas week a lot of people will have gone out straight from work.

I went out to pick up my BF after his works' do on Friday night at about midnight and lost count of the number of people who tried to hail me as a taxi on the way there (including a couple who swooped at red lights and actually tried to get in the car with me!). I didn't go through the centre of town either. Obviously it was the one day of the year when there are too few taxis to go round for the number of people who are out throwing beer down their necks.

Town seemed busy but I've seen it busier (St Patricks) but it was certainly rowdier and everyone seemed cheerier than normal!

Trying to get a taxi on West St at 4am was a nightmare though!!!

Tequila said they opened at 6pm, were 3/4 full by half past and had a queue from 7 til midnight :o

With reference to the rowdiness, I had a couple in the Lounge from 4pm and already West St was rammed with hammered blokes, was nearly ALL lads out. Seemed to be a boat-load of coppers sorting something out in BRB about half five ish.

By contrast, last night in Tequila was nearly all ladies! Seems they'd left the boys to take care of their hangovers/injuries and have themselves a night out in peace.

I arrived at west st live at 7.30pm to find it full to capacity - took nearly 10 minutes just to get from the door to the stage !

Was a good night though - and the bar staff worked miracles

My other half was out, which probably vastly contributed to a city wide increase in alehouse profits.

I'm sure I didn't queue into there at about 10... Can't be certain though as memories are a bit hazy!!

Agree with above that it was almost all men out

If this many people went out all year round then Sheffield would have a much bigger night time economy...

It seemed busy, but (reasonably) civilized. I only saw one person fall over which is not too bad for Mad Friday.

BTW, I have one of the best pints of beer (London Pride) that I've had all year in Goldenfleeces establishment, so bravo! I've not a regular visitor to the the Dove, but I think I might have to be this coming year...

Many thanks:) In fact we have just won the Punch Taverns Regional Shine Award for the 'drinks Experience' at the Dove and Rainbow....being entered for the National one too! Plus we received the 'CasK Marque' Award earlier this year too!

Watch out for more fantastic ales, don't forget, 8 online at any one time.
