Hi.

Today I bought this:

http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/store/cur_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0884446234.119828087 5@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccfkaddmkljdhdjcflgceggdhhmdgmj.0&page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null&sku=025723&category_oid=

Its a midi hifi thingy with a ipod docking stand, cd player and DAB radio. its the first dab radio I have had.

Everything on it works fine. Including the normal fm radio.

However when I try and use the DAB it picks up no signals.

The instruction manual is about as much use as a chocolate fireguard!!!!

The only thing it says in the manual is move the little aerial wire about. Which makes no flipping difference!!!!

So fed up!!!

I think you live quite close to me TattyBear and I have the same problem. The only place that I can get a good enough signal to receive stations properly is if I stand in the middle of one of the upstairs bedrooms with the aerial up in the air over my head. There really isn't a usable DAB signal in my house at all.

I'm not sure if this (http://www.freeview.co.uk/availability/) will be any good as it gives Freeview reception in your area, I'm just presuming that the Radio stations on DAB are the same ones as on Freeview (Slap me if I'm wrong). Just enter your postcode and house number and it should give you an idea what sort of signal you should receive. As far as I understand, as the Digital switchover progresses then the signals should get stronger as the Analogue signals are switched off. Hope this helps.

Hi.

Well I put my postcode in on that website and it said I should be able to get the freeview channels. So I dont know if there is any relation to DAB.

Also when im doing a scan, its not even stopping and picking any faint signals up or anything.

I have the same problem. At first could get nothing, then a few, now nothing again. According to my postcode I should get a few but don't.

The future's digital, they tell us...
Not that you'll soon have much choice in the matter, of course.
After checking the postcode, I bought one of the original Pure Evoke-1's, with an added speaker for stereo, 2/3 years ago?
Ostensibly bought to listen to Test Matches, I still find my old radio, tuned to LW198, far better....

DAB sounds worse than FM, read all about it here: -

I think you need an aerial the size of Emley Moor to pick anything up round Sheffield.

Not neccesarily. I'm in S6 and get an excellent signal.

I've got an evoke 1 and like you I brought it to listen to cricket, radio 5 and radio 6. I would not be without it.
I think FM is a better quality of sound but digital ( if you are in the right area) is a lot more reliable.

TattyBear, has your radio got a tune button?
