I think Portia has eaten a little bit of plastic wrapping...not very much....she seemed to breathe a bit funny for a minute or so, then is absolutely fine - tearing about the place fighting her sister. She has eaten since but has been growling more than she usually does (wierd kitten thinks she's a dog)...worthy of a visit to vetsnow do you think or shall i just keep an eye on her...? She is behaving normally...
She's 13 weeks old by the way...
Thanks:thumbsup:
I think it would depend exactly how much she has eaten. If it was a long peice it can wrap around the digestive system which could lead to problems, obviously.
Growling can be a sign of discomfort and pain, it can also be a warning to keep away, aimed at yourself or other cats, so you need to decide why she is growling in order to decide if she needs a vet.
How is she now?
I'm with Gemima on this one- how much is a 'little bit'? You have to remember that a 13 week old kitten has very very narrow bowels so it's really dependent on the size and shape of the bit that she ate.
Sounds strange to say it, but I'd be less worried by a square piece than by a long thin piece too.
If she's eating and using the litter tray as normal then I don't think I'd panic too much, but please get her to the vet tout de suite if things start going awry in that department or if she's out of sorts in the next few days.
The other thing you'll need to be really careful with is if she's developing a taste for plastic. Occasionally animals can do that (Merlin loved plastic bags, but only to squeak her nose leather up and down on it and purr lots, but I've known cats eat all sorts of strange things) and the only thing you can do for that is to attempt to keep it out of reach at all times and on the occasions that you can't keep it out of reach spray it with something like bitter apple to make her less likely to chew it.

She's fine...I'm not convinced she ate it even...it was cellephone wrapping off something or other that she kindly retrieved out of my bin (clever kitten) but she's eating, pooing and causing general mayhem so I think we're ok....I think the growling was for her sister's benefit...she bores quicker than saskia of play fighting....
I made the mistake of wearing a top with tie back straps today and she actually took a running jump at my back off the bed and clung on for dear life....she's lucky she's not out of the window!
Glad she is ok Absynthfairy. I once had a kitten hanging off my neck with one claw, after she decided to use me as leapfrog in order to get on top of the wardrobe, lovely bruise I had.
The joy of kittens....:hihi:

"...eating, pooing and causing general mayhem" Sounds like typical healthy kitten behaviour! A Merry Christmas to Portia from Tiger :)
