iam wondering if anyone can help me my comp is infected with 3 virus's and cannot be removed i have McAfee and AVG and both cannot remove them as iam only a beginner in comps i don't know what to do i don't know if i have to reformat my comp and i don't know how to do it as the comp is my lifeline (iam disabled) i need to do this really quickly i would be most grateful if someone can help me thanks

Like LesMcQueen says, there could be specific instructions for removing these viruses. Giving us the exact names will help.
It may be worth running one or two online virus scans.
I reccomend Panda active scan (http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm) and Trend Micro's Housecall (http://www.trendmicro.com/housecall).

These scans may remove you're viruses straight away.

In my practice its best to just back up your documents (but not executable files). Reformat your hard drive, reinstall Windoos, and straight off install the latest service pack and antivirus program. Me and many friends have tried to reapir the damage caused by viral infections in the past and always came to halt as some critical files get corrupt.

McAfee has found them and the most likely reason why it can't remove them because they may be running. You cannot delete files that are currently running as a process or are open.

Go into safe mode and have another go at scanning and see if that removes them.

To go into safe mode - press F8 during reboot - do it several time as the timing important. You know when you are in safe mode as it displays "Safe mode" in the corner of the screen. Then run your virus scanner again to see if you get further.

Just reboot the machine again to get out of safe mode.
