I see Liverpool (I was toying with a different spelling) are losing 2-0 against Chelsea after 90 minutes (playing in injury time), with Lampard and Shevchenko getting the goals, and Crouch being given his marching orders.

So thats two down, two to go.

Thats - Liverpool Reserves 0 Chelsea 2!

Upto the goal Liverpool were well in this game and although Chelsea had their chances, Liverpool also had enough to have been infront by the time Lampard scored yet another one of his thousand deflected goals!

Liverpool Reserves played ok tonight. A couple of youth players were given a chance and the players who are usually on the bench got a run out aswell.

Shame we couldn't have progressed into the semi's but against a Chelsea side that looked desperate to get into the semi-finals of the Carling Cup, with the team Liverpool fielded, it never really looked like happening!

Plus Chelsea were playing for the pride of defending their hold on the cup no-one cares about.

It's a lot more than a shame, given this was Liverpool's best chance of winning a trophy this year. The Premiership's already gone by the board, they struggled to reach the last 16 in Europe, and the FA Cup still has 64 teams in it, not just eight.

What is it then? Is getting knocked out of the Carling Cup a travesty?
given this was Liverpool's best chance of winning a trophy this year. The Premiership's already gone by the board,.
Why has it? Seven Points (if we win our game in hand) is not unatanable! It would only take a serious injury to Ronaldo to stop Manchester Utd in their tracks!
they struggled to reach the last 16 in Europe,.
So what? Liverpool have qualified, but what you are saying is that because Liverpool left it late in doing so we can no longer win it? Two finals in three years says we have a better chance than most!
and the FA Cup still has 64 teams in it, not just eight.
So we have just as good a chance as anyone?

I still can't believe Crouch got both feet off the ground at the same time, and he wasn't heading the ball. Apparently that's his 4th sending off for 4 different teams.

If he's been sent off 16 times in his career, the man's an animal! Should be looking at a much longer ban this time.

Just skim through Hearsays posts LFCPaul, Most do. They are usually just riddled with garbage and uninteresting unedcuated waffle.

Come on Paul, don't go down that " Reina, Gerrard & Torres didn't play so it was our reserve team" road. And since when did Liverpool become Carling Cup Snobs?
Chelsea played Sinclair for a part of the game and Ballack had an effective comeback. Even Sidwell got to kick the ball a couple of times. ;)
Thought Poirot, sorry Benitez was having a laugh when he defended Crouch. Was a bit like saying if you knock a Policeman's helmet off a couple of times he is entitled to smash you on the head with his truncheon.:loopy:

Liverpool are not CC snobs mate, we usually set out to win it whilst blooding one or two youth players mixed with squad players that don't get too many games otherwise! Yesterday we were missing;

Reina
Finnan
Hyppia
Mascherano
Gerrard
Kewell
Torres
Kuyt

Youngster Hobbs was given a game and the rest were players that are usually either a substitute or not involved at all.

I personally would have played a slightly stronger team but Guderian for example thinks it's disgusting that a top four team actually plays ANY first team players. That one I can't understand to be honest. We were beat fair and square and there is no excuse for Crouch's tackle... he deserved to go and nothing Rafa says can change that!

Even with those players, you would still have lost.

You didn't beat them at Anfield when you had these players. :hihi: And it says everything about your desperation when you're lamenting the absence of Kewell!!!

We should have won at Anfield. If your memory goes back that far you would remember the penalty that Chelsea were gifted when Liverpool were 1 - 0 up!

Kewell is a great player when fit, anyone with any footballing knowledge can see that! He has been in great form lately and should have started on Wednesday!

Despite what people think, Liverpool v Everton on the whole are quite a family event. Many family's (like your own) are mixed supporters of Red and Blue and Cup finals, and even Semi-Finals are really something to behold in most parts of Liverpool.

I would love it to happen again before i'm too old to know whats going on :hihi:
