does anyone have any tips for removing tear stains?
ive tried everything from wipes to lotions but they are still there. he even has 5ml of apple cider vinegar in his water.
i wipe his eyes and wrinkles daily and put a little vasaline under his eyes.

This is a good one. I have a massive problem with this as my dogs eyelashes grow into his eyes. This causes a huge build up which I constantly have to keep on top of. any ideas a re welcome.
I use Johnsons Diamond eyes in the mornings, and just water on a pad if and when needed during the day, and comb out any sleep.
Check with your vet that he doesn't have an infection in the duct.
if it's just cosmetic, I know someone who swears by cornstarch - although I think you'd be disqualified if you were in competition for using this to whiten your dog's coat. He rubs it in dry, then kinda rubs all the loose out again. Just keep it out of his eyes.
I used to use lotions and stuff on cotton wool for Eddy and it was never really much good but now I just let Takara (my other dog) clean them! She spends ages every day lovingly cleaning his eyes and he never has any tear stains anymore!
Sorry I know that wasn't much help...

been to vets no infections at all.
cornstarch is no good for dog eyes, his coat is fine. ive also tried diamond eyes and everything else from the pet shops. even £14 eye wipes from pucci.
thanks for your help anyway.
I have yet to find the perfect product for tear staining and the search is still on. Westies are prone to staining of the beard, feet and eyes and my customers are always asking me to recommend a product, when I find the product I will be stocking up on it and selling it in my shop no doubt I will have a queue.:hihi:

Someone told me that tear stains are worsened when the dog is fed mainly a chicken diet, be it in wet or dry form. Is there any truth in this?
