Does anyone know what was going on down there last night? The road was blocked off with lots of police and blue flashing lights there, quite a few buses lined up and a car in the middle of the road.

Yeah traffic was backed up all the way to the beachief hotel. Apparently a guy just stepped out and got hit, don't know what sort of a condition he's in though. Like to say welldone to the garden centre staff though they seemed to be helping out a lot, managing traffic and stuff-making good use of those walkie talkies they have.:)

I was there too. Probably got off the same train as lotar's wife. Yes - I saw the garden centre staff helping out too. Not very nice. Hope the guy is okay.

Hope he's ok. It is a dark stretch of road along there with no pelican crossings and not easy to spot people walking.

I think I am getting old.... I keep thinking all pedistrians need light coloured coats/bags to be spotted easier on these dark nights.

Why should it always be for the drivers to spot the pedestrian and not the other way round? After all, in the event of a collision it will inevitably be the pedestrian who comes off worst, so I would have thought that it might be in their best interest to look out for the traffic and to avoid stepping out into it.

I drive up past there on my way home, and had a near miss with someone the other night who just stepped out, around the garden centre, the right hand turn to Dore Rd and the bus stop is just so dangerous. It is way too dark there!!. More lighting is needed and yes yr right about the latter.

It should be both who are cautious. Pedestrians don't look properly, the amount of time I have had near misses as someone has just stepped out onto a road, it makes me so nervous driving in rush hour and the dark together.

It is an awful junction to negotiate, especially when people are coming out of the station too. Lots of different directions to be looking in at the same time and as you say, poor lighting. Hope the person knocked down will recover :-(

It's a nightmare crossing the road when attempting to interchange between train and bus. The road has constant traffic, plus the junctions with Twentywell Lane and Dore Road make things worse. It's a scandal really that there are no traffic lights or pedestrian crossings in the area.

But then the council won't spend money at the posh end of town....

I've almost crashed a couple of times at the bottom of twenty well cars get frustrated at the junction and jump out like idiots

There was plans to put a crossing / traffic lights in around the Dore Station area a few years back accroding to my local lib-dem cllr , however labour won control back and the idea has now been shelved

I wish somebody would take over the old station building and turn it into a decent pub/food place.

Never went while it was delhi junction due to bad reports and the wednesday connection.
