:(

He is 3 months old and this evening I have noticed he is hanging his ear over, and its twitching. He keeps hanging it over to one side, He looks unsettled with it :( he is my little baby.

I'm guessing its an ear infection and I will be straight onto the vets in the morning for a checkup.

His ears look really clean inside. I cant see dirt/wax or anything.

Anything I can do in the mean time? Does anyone think I should take him to vetsnow this evening?

Have a good look down his ear, have a gentle rub of the outer ear canal with a cotton wool ball and see what comes off and while you're there have a smell of his ear.

When you've done that we'll have a better idea of what's going on- but at the moment I don't think that you're being irresponsible waiting until tomorrow for the vet.

HI,

I have wiped his ear and there is nothing there. I used a little warm water aswel (been boiled in the kettle earlier-cooled) and his ears are really really clean.

Right :hihi: Has he been near any water/rain? or It could be that or ear mites. If he has caught them recently there may not be any discharge yet? Are his ears hot to the touch (sign of infection / stress if so?)

Either way, a trip to the vet tommorow will be fine, they will have the equipment to have a good nosey down there to make sure alls well.

Hope Charlie is ok.

Hi.

He hasnt been near rain because we dont let him out (he is too young) and the only water he has been near is water drinking bowl or the dogs water drinking bowl.
His ears don't feel hot or anything.
Since I gave it a wipe he doesnt seem to be hanging it as much. Perhaps the warm water on the cotton wool helped clear something.

Sounds like ear mites.

Has tried scratching or 'yowling' yet?

If the inside of his ears weren't black and dusty looking then it's not likely to be ear mites. If they aren't smelly, inflamed or waxy then there's also a possibility that it's nothing to actually do with his outer ear at all. Cats get inner ear infections/labyrinthitis like humans do.

Maybe a quick rinse helped dislodge a foreign body or just rubbing got rid of a particularly persistent itch. If it comes back or he starts holding his head on one side or the ear folded over let the vet have a look.

I don't think that there's any need to worry about it tonight though.

Yeah your right, If you saw him now you would wonder what I was worried about, in 5 minutes he has knocked 4 baubles of the tree and is currently chasing my dogs tail! I would have that any day over them being poorly though

He's a stunner Tatty. Hope he's feeling better now. It might even be something as simple as him being clipped by one of the other cats, if it's nothing obvious.
