I am looking for some classes to take my new 1 year old-ish lurcher. I might not be able to commit to a whole course of lessons on a particular night but am keen to ensure he and I get the best start by him learning not to run off and walk to heel. I am based in S2 but can travel, but can only make a few nights of the week. I have seen the old threads and wondered if the Crookes classes are still on and if anyone has a phone number?
Thanks in advance!

The Crookes classes are still running but I'm afraid I don't have a number. I'm not sure when they finish for Christmas either.

The reason most classes are courses is because otherwise it's very difficult to make sure the whole class gets what they need. With a course, the trainers will show you how to build up gradually to get to the behaviour you want whilst the problem I had at the classes held at St Tims was this was not possible and one of my dogs who was 11 years old and never been trained before couldn't keep up and instead of gradually learning for example that stay means stay where you are, he was told to stay and then expected to stay there while I walked away, obviously this didn't work and did more harm than good in trying to train him.

My point is - if you can do your best to commit to a course that really would be the best way forward - the only benefit I can really see in drop in drop out classes is the socialisation for the dogs.
