hi can anyone tell me if i need a tetanus as my parrot has bit me and how do you stop them biring do they understand the words no biting he doesnt usually but when he grips the finger its murder any info will be greatfull thanks

how old is he? as for the tetnus i get bit by my greys reg and have never needed one

I'd be more worried about psittacosis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psittacosis) than I would about tetanus, but I wouldn't really be that bothered about psittacosis either, given that there are less than 50 cases per year over the whole USA.

If you have had 5 in your lifetime, the doctor wont give you one anyway.

I have had 5 (worked in dog rescue and am a dog groomer, so it is to be expected that I am at risk). I went to see the doctor after a bite and he said tough luck, you are now immune.:o
