View Full Version : Daytime TV - inspiring or brain rotting?

Is it me, or does watching day-time TV actively rot brain cells?

I'm off work sick and cause I'm stuck in bed I've had the TV on for the last few hours.

So far I've watched a riduculously ugly scally bloke trying to chose between two equally ugly chav sisters on Trisha, some form of fat housewives make-over courtesy of Lorraine Kelly, and loads of adverts trying to flog bank loans and personal injury claims.

Sod the throat infection - I'm now much more concerned about the damage this is doing to my grey matter!!! Hope the antibiotics do their job quickly or I'll return to work a useless vegetable.

I have to admit then when I get the chance, I'm a big fan of Animal Park - think that is what it is called anyway!
Will the baby marmoset be rejected by it's mother?
Will the injured rhino make it through the night?
Nail biting, edge of seat stuff!

Ha! Okay, I'll conceed to that one. I did actually turn that on earlier and was vaguely fascinated by whether the mother giraffe would reject her newborn cub/calf/foal/baby/giraffette or whatever they call baby giraffes. But after a nail-biting night of uncertaintly all was well.

Wish I was off work, so I could watch 60-minute Makeover. That programme rocks! I love the way the "designers" spout off to the assembled team of plasterers, plumbers and sparks about how important it is to work hard to get the job done - and then spend the next half an hour wandering round telling people what to do without coming anywhere close to getting their hands dirty themselves.

Oh, and the ugly Claire Sweeney just stands there and nods, occasionally asking a stupid question and blowing a whistle.

You gotta laugh at these people!

Anyway, today's listing:

1.00pm 60 Minute Makeover: Claire Sweeney hosts the DIY challenge, as husband-and-wife design team Graham and Annabelle tackle a family home in Hampshire, using red mirrored plastic in their quest for the perfect bedroom

Red mirrored plastic! Yummy! Set your video, only 45 minutes before it's on.

It's offensive to anyone with more than two brain cells. I think they should bring back the test card with the funky music, or show more 70's and 80's schools programmes, like Boy From Space or Dark Towers!

Ah yes, the good old 80s... Bring back Children's Education TV that's actually GOOD and educating! Not this inane Teletubby and Tweenies tripe the BBC laughingly calls Children's "entertainment"

Johnny Ball taught you stuff that was genuinely interesting and you remembered it! CBBC sometimes show old Look and Read programmes. Boy from Space was supposed to be on last month but they took it off.

But Dark Towers is on in March!

i think that daytime tv is incredably boring!!! In the hols there is nothing to watch at all!!! However, when it's not the holidays most people should be working and therefore are not watching daytime tv, so it doesn't really matter if it's crap cos most ppl shouldnt even be in to watch it unless they're ill or something similar!!!
