I love Christmas baubles! I don't know GS, they are selling on ebay, I pinched the picture :hihi: Wool4brains 14-12-2007, 23:16 Here (http://anleitungen.bestrickendes.de/index.php?page=shop.product_details&category_id=43&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=274&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1)you go (but you have to translate it). I'd do it for you now except I've been on the lager and you might end up knitting a hat. Wool4brains 14-12-2007, 23:21 What am I thinking - GS you should have no trouble translating this should you? I saw styrofoam balls in a craft shop last week and couldn't work out what to do with them so now I know. Wheezy 15-12-2007, 00:20 Here (http://anleitungen.bestrickendes.de/index.php?page=shop.product_details&category_id=43&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=274&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1)you go (but you have to translate it). I'd do it for you now except I've been on the lager and you might end up knitting a hat. Perhaps one of you would like to do it for the rest of us = as a gesture of good will  :help: JillM 15-12-2007, 09:41 Sticking the text in a online translation toolbox is very interesting!!! Can just about follow the translated instructions............:hihi: rachelg 15-12-2007, 10:29 I found these that are sort of similar (but with english instructions!) http://www.canadianliving.com/crafts/knitting/knitted_ornaments.php Wool4brains 15-12-2007, 11:18 I don't speak any german other than danke and bitte: 2.5mm needles:styrofoam ball 8cm or appropriate size Co 6 stitches, join, knit one row plain. 2. Increase in every stitch (12 stitches) 3 and every following alternate row - knit plain 4. Increase in every stitch (24 stitches) 6.(K1, increase in next stitch) to end (36 stitches) 8. (K2, increase in next stitch) to end (48 stitches) 10 (K3, inc in next stitch) to end (60 stitches) 12.(K4, inc in next st) to end (72 stitches) Knit 10 rows plain Make another the same, put the styrofoam ball in the middle and graft together. (I suppose that you could stuff it with toy filling, you'd knit 20 rows plain and then start decreasing down to 6 stitches) Glitter Star 15-12-2007, 15:59 Wool4Brains, are you sure you don't speak German? The translation is perfect. I'm definitely going to make some of them. Possibly right now! elliboo 16-12-2007, 16:51 here's one on the vogue knitting site too - http://www.vogueknitting.com/vkm/?q=node/86 although it's not as neat since it doesn't have any shaping! (no grafting though either :D ) Wool4brains 16-12-2007, 18:30 I like grafting, it has rescued me from my own stupidity time and time again. You could do the german one with the shaping but without the grafting by starting in the middle with a provisional cast on, knitting for an inch and then decreasing down to six stitches. That one works if you're going to stuff it, otherwise you'd be knitting the second half around a polystyrene ball and that would be tedious and probably squeaky. Are knitted ornaments this year's "big thing" then? I quite liked the felted wreath but I'm not feeling the love for the tree ornaments. I like mine shiny and glittery and that's not usually a big feature of sock yarn. Wheezy 18-12-2007, 14:48 I like mine shiny and glittery and that's not usually a big feature of sock yarn. You could put beads on :| shiphrah 18-12-2007, 17:40 I've bought some glittery fabric stuff to put on mine though why I bought it now I don't know. I'll never get any even started for this Christmas! :suspect: |
