I've got a blister on my finger from where I push the needle back to get the yarn off it. I've never had one before and it really hurts! I'm using a 3.25mm knitpicks circular at the moment (haven't used any needles below 5mm before) and trying to knit as often as I can as it's a Christmas present and I'm up against time. Any ideas how to stop it happening? Have you had any knitting injuries?

:xPut a plaster on and soldier on. Ignore the pain, there's things to knit

I've had to drastically cut down on my knitting and crochet cos I've got RSI in my wrist! :(

Awwwwww, PT, now you can have some sympathy  Where as Doodle had but a mere blister  Rest and get better soon. A few early nights wouldn't go a miss...... ;) OK Doodle, here's a little sympathy for you too

Is it pushing back the point of the needle that's done it? Knitpicks are really pointy and you could try using something blunter. Other options include buying a box of choccies and then calling the work in progress an early start on next year's Christmas knitting.

I get the same thing on my left index finger. Whenever I'm knitting with anything vaguely pointy now I always wrap a plaster round it as a precaution. I don't bother with blunt metal straight or anything like that as they don't tend to bother it. Over time it has hardened into a tougher patch of skin though so I don't get blisters too much anymore!

Looks like I'm going to raid my first aid box for a plaster. I'll have to remember to plaster before using pointy ones.

Wool4brains - I had thought about putting in down for next year, but it's a hat for a 1 year old, and next year it will probably be too small.

Sorry to hear about your RSI plaintalker. :(

And finally, some sympathy from Wheezy :hihi:

I get trouble from a pinched nerve in my shoulder when I knit, but I seem to be able to get away with crochet. Trouble is, I keep finding things I want to knit.

Years ago I had a knitting blister and it was when I was knitting some pure wool 3 or 4 ply on quite fine needles. I dont do that nowadays.
