Do you have all your Blu-Ray playback settings at default?

/edit - also - what kind of TV are you using? Are TV settings default? have you changed anything on either your TV or PS3 recently? See if you have 'edge enhancement' turned on and if so, select 'off'. That might be your first attempted fix.

How about ditchin the PS3, and getting a hardware decoding blu-ray player.

Read this article as if you haven't got a HDTV that could be the issue.

Are you using an HD TV? Is it connected using an HDMI cable?

I have a PS3 connected to my Sony Bravia TV using an HDMI cable and the picture is dripping with gorgeousness when I'm watching Blu-Ray films.

You might also want to check your TV's settings if you do have an HD LCD/Plasma as some have in-built functionality to deal with picture blur and so on - in which case try turning those on/off and see if it makes a difference.

With latest firmware PS3 is one of the best Bluray players on the market (and cheapest).

Can't really comment on the problem bendeanwragg is having without seeing it.
