Just read this thread: http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=286473

Doggy bus fares are going up from 25p to 40p! Am I the only one who think this sucks? I'm lucky as I don't take Maisey on often but when I do she sits on the floor i.e. not taking up a seat, so I don't see why we have to pay at all.

I wonder if they'd charge if she was in her carrier (a canvas one)? If so, why don't they charge for other animals? - not that they should.

This is going to prove expensive for people with more than one dog. Also, I was wondering, do the elderly and disabled have to pay full dog fare? If so, they're going to be paying more for the pet than themselves.

I think this sucks too, I also think its strange that you can take a dog on the train for free but have to pay to use the bus.

thats ridiculous i agree we shouldnt have to pay for dogs what about ppl that get on with suitcases and loads of luggage that takes more room than a dog i was sat on a full bus the other day this woman had 2 suitcases one on the seat one on the floor and loads of shopping bags she didnt use the space made for thes and didt move to allow an elderly man to sit down either

I didnt realise you had to pay ever? I took Parka to the vets once there and back on the bus in a carrier and didnt have to pay.

I have never been on a bus with the dogs, so I didnt know you had to pay. How can a pensioner pay more for the dog than themselves, seems mad to me :loopy: They do not charge for prams with kids in, so why charge for dogs

I have read that dogs in carriers don't pay, which explains your question Benneh.

I suppose it's a step up from the trams that wouldn't let them on at all.

I have always paid the standard child/oap fare for dogs (albeit not very often), they have been riping me off!

you cannot take any dog on the supertram, unless it's a *registered assistance dog/ r-a-d in training, cats permitted, but must be in a carrier.

buses:- at the discretion of the driver, costs (currently) 25p single fare.

trains? dogs permitted (at discretion of the carrier) no charge currently.
Y+TAxis? depends on driver (can't refuse an R-A-D)

* RAD = Guide dog/ Hearing dog for the Deaf/ Canine Partner/ Support Dog, etc.

Our dogs come all over on the bus with us, and I think 40p is scandalous!!!!!!!!! Robin barstewards!

GL Head: Tatty please don't use disguised swearing.

That said, I understand the sentiment. If I was lucky enough to take my Moo to work with me it'd cost more to take her than me (with my orange pass).

I am going to have to find out the costs from Stagecoach because they do the bus to Eckington (vets).
