This message appears only on certain web pages. When I get rid of the message it takes the web page with it, another time the web page appears without the message and there is no problem.

I just looked at the briskoda forum page without a problem

if it's only on certain pages then it's because those pages are using a specific feature, probably something in javascript, and the java on your machine is corrupted somehow

try turning off scripting and look at one of the problem pages again, if it doesn't fail then you probably need to reinstall java, just remember to re enable scripting afterwards

I hope I have got this correct,

tools>internet options>advance>disable script debugging (internet explorer). The box was ticked, I unticked it but the problem was still there so I have reticked it. I have thought of something else, it also happens occasionally on the Independant newspaper web page and I seem to remember the thumbnail photos haven't loaded up on the page but the frame of the photos are there with a X (cross) inside it. An extra clue maybe, otherwise I will unistall/reinstall Java

Thanks

Something is causing it to crash, most likely a plugin like Java, Flash etc?

no wrong option

on IE6 it's Tools>Internet Options
select the Security tab
select the Internet zone
click Custom Level
scroll down to scripting and make a note of the scripting settings then check Disable for all scripting options

you can probably just get away with Disable on Active Scripting but better to be safe

the little red x where the image should shows the image hasn't been loaded so the error is probably in the code to select the advert, so it's looking bad for javascript again

I am not sure whether it is possible for this to be the culprit, last Sunday I installed AVG antispyware and the problem seemed to stem from around that time so I have uninstalled AVG and as I seem to get a system restore point every day I did a system restore to the day before the install. I may be back later shouting for help but at present (fingers crossed) it appears to be cured. I am just curious but is it feasable for a antispyware program to create this type of problem or have iI just been lucky with the system restore.

AVG may have found a false positive in your java code and disabled it system restore may have put it back

stress the word may here

it works, don't question it just enjoy ;)

In a few days time when I am sure it is cured I will install the AVG again and see what happens, at least if it does re,occur I will have a good idea what is causing it.

Thanks for your replies
