Does anyone know the minimum/maximum physical and mental attribues need to join the fire service?

i too am applying to south yorkshire brigade. i got through to the final interviews last february (2004) only to be told that i would have to re-apply. i had some metal work in my ankle. it's hard to gague how difficult the physical/aptitude tests are, i didn't find them too bad.

anyway good luck.

does anyone have any information about the next recruitment drive by south yorkshire fire & rescue?

i have been checking the website solidly since the turn of the year, also the website doesn't seem to have been updated since april.

South Yorkshire Fire Service have a 'freeze' on recruitment of wholetime firefighters at the moment. This is due to changes in the service with the modernisation agenda (following the strike and new pay deal).

However, many of the current Firefighters are due to retire in the next 18 months so I would guess that they will start recruiting some time this year.
