View Full Version : Dublin - What A Fantastic City
Green Web 12-12-2007, 15:31 Dublin is a great city and well worth visiting, despite the freezing wet weather, the great buildings with outstanding architecture everywhere to look at and i especially admire the castle and its grounds they are truly stunning, even though i don't really like Guiness the factory it self is good and it is interesting. The city of Dublin is so busy but the people are so friendly helpful and positive which i've never come across before in other big cities.
If there's one city you should visit my recommendation is Dublin, and you can get loads of cheap flights to there from Manchester. 12.50 each return we paid!
Anyone else been? If so what did you think?

Can I just point out Green Web is now working for the Dublin tourist board via her own company 'taking the mick'
I lived there for 12 months and came back to Sheffield in August this year. I fully agree with you, has to be visited to be appreciated :D
Given that I am Irish its not terribly surprising I have been to Dublin quite a few times. Very nice city, though I always found it relatively expensive.

Yes it is expensive, but the fact flights there are so cheap and Dublin has to be the best place i've ever visited it more than makes for the extra you pay on certain items food beer etc. but this obviously also depends on the exchange rate as well.
pippadoll 12-12-2007, 18:56 I went there a few years ago. I really enjoyed it, although it was expensive - hotels, food and drink. But we expected that.
We took the dart to a few towns along the coast. Went to Bray - a bit of a seaside town they forgot to close down, Kiliney, beautiful bay, where Bono comes from and may still have a house and Dalkey, where O Brien wrote some of hilarious articles and books. Also saw the bullet holes in the Post Office from the war early last centrury. Living history.
The University library was spectacular too.
Didn't do the Guiness tour, so I guess I will have to return.
Overall we had a really pleasant stay and I would recommend it.
I went a few years ago but have to say that I much preferred Cork...can't put my finger on why, it just had a buzzing atmosphere that reminded me of Halcyon days. I even got a tattoo!!
Rivelin6 12-12-2007, 19:33 Hope to go within the next year to do some family history research- thanks for the tip off Green.:)

BasilRathbon 14-12-2007, 09:22 Chris De Burgh lives there as well, so if the weather's dull you can always spend a pleasant afternoon throwing stones at his house.
