Odd.....I don't have too many issues with Web Fusion.

What servers are you on?

Pluto - It goes down for five minutes every hour or so (FTP as well) I asked about this months ago and they said it was temporary....

How very bizarre!

I've had the odd 'one off' outage on uranium and gold, but not for quite a while now.

Just checked and I've got nothing on pluto as far as I can tell....

One to avoid is Fasthosts (http://www.fasthosts.co.uk)

we had a customer move from fasthosts the other day.

I e-mailed them on the 16th asking a simple question i got a reply yesterday (23rd).

They call that service.

We are in the midst of re building out own website and will be launching a support contact number, support ticketing system, and a few more goodies.

Would have to agree with Fasthosts.

One of my development clients hosts there and they're dreadful.

The one I use for myself and any clients who require web hosting is: http://purplecloud.com. They're very reasonably price, excellent downtime record and the support is always there. They also have a forum where you can ask questions if you get stuck.

It's the best host I've been with. Alternatively if your after something a bit more beefy you could always get a dedicated server from £39 a month at: http://poundhost.co.uk.

I've had a long association with a company called Flump.net, having known the owners as they built the company from a small one to a much bigger operation...

They aren't local but have been reliable and I know they learned a lot from the early Fasthost and MCHost fiascos so they've picked up on how to handle customer communication, etc...

Worth taking a look certainly...

I used to use Web Fusion, had quite a few problems with them, ditto Fasthosts (although Fasthosts name service is still perfectly good). Worst I ever encountered though was Easyspace (an account that I inherited off another web agency), absolute pits, they charged you for everything it's possible to charge you for, had the most atrocious web front end I've ever seen, you could only submit support requests online and then only after you'd been through about 10 pages saying "are you sure the answer to your query isn't on this page", and they wanted to keep their phone number secret to the extent that the "phone number" on their domain registration record was actually a fax number.

Nowadays I host everything with ev1servers.net (previously rackshack) - dedicated servers so fairly pricey, and they're based in the USA, but I've been with them for nearly three years and they've been absolutely great, you can usually get someone for support within a couple of minutes via web chat, and they have very lively & informative user forums.

Hehe - 'Deadhost' is a dead link - is that a joke?

Anyways, thanks for all the links...
Getting cheeky, anyone know of a free provider with no ads?

[Ditto easyspace, been there; rubbish.]

I use www.123reg.co.uk for name buying and just point them wherever - simple.

PS. Incidentally WebFusion (Pluto Server) has been behaving itself for a few days now., just seems to have a few off day now and then.

I think that's me you're talking about lol. Yeah I'd recommend Glasstop.

Quick response to emails. V.Friendly, and didn't lose their temper with someone as dimwitted as me when it comes to asking stupid questions about working on my website as I have absolutely no knowledge of this kind of thing.

:help:  :loopy:

But at leats I am getting there now
