Just noticed this fault with my 40D today while out taking a few snaps.

When im in any of the manual modes P Tv Av M ect the camera will no longer let me set an ISO speed below 200, it goes stright from auto to 200, nothing in the 100's plus when in manual mode it doesnt fully display the full ISO speed eg an ISO speed of 200 is shown as 2oo, 250 is shown as 25o, 500 is shown as 5oo, 1000 is shown as 1ooo and so on, the top half of all zeros is missing.

Now when im in any of the auto modes be it portrait, landscape, sports ect i can get an ISO below 200 and the zeros are displayed in full.

Any ideas to the cause of the fault.

Thanks

I don't have a 40D but on my particular Canon SLR, I cannot drop bellow 200ISO when I have highlight priorty turned on. Perhaps you have something similar.

I suspect what you are seeing re 250 being displayed as 25o etc. is to indicate you are in a particular mode, in your case manual mode?

I don't think you have a faulty body.

What does the manual say?

Yep your spot on its got highlight tone priority turned on.

Memo to myself, if im going to buy an expensive camera i must read the manual before pressing any buttons on it.
