At Christmas we've always tried to make the outside of our house look attractive, and each year "the morons" came and broke the lights, so we had to say never no more as we can't afford them.I recently planted a row of little conifers,to brighten the garden up, and this wasn't easy,as I am sixty and not getting any younger, also I'm the sole carer for two disabled people so time and money was important, but I went out to do a little bit more in the garden, to find "the morons "have been again and pulled the little trees up and have taken some, so can anyone tell me why they do it?
Our house is very nice,but we've worked all our life for it,and we built it, but we are two pensioners who can ill afford this, so can anyone tell me why?What do they get out of it?

Sounds like Neighbour from Hell behaviour to me.

Systematic destruction of other people's property is a prime indication. These people are thugs Applegrim. If you have witnesses report the matter to the appropriate authorities. If you don't have witnesses, please consider getting cctv - keep it inside your home, and make sure it covers your property boundaries too.

Then hook it up to a vcr and let it record 24 hours a day. You'll get the morons eventually.

There was a really cheap CCTV system in Big W when I went last week; I think it was around £30, and came with a black and white monitor too!

Applegrim, sorry to hear about your recent woes. Why not plant something thorny and nasty, so if they do pull it up they will cut their thieving little hands to ribbons.
Hawthorn, brambles, roses, nettles?
sharp metal spikes with a mains electricity supply. Even better use Direct Current, and then they will stick to it, and you can have 10 minutes with a cricket bat before you call the police!

You can buy a pretty cheap one from Argos, it's black and white, but hopefully it'll do the trick. I think they're under £30.

Thanks to you all for your kind thoughts, we don't usually have that sort of thing, it's not a bad area, I do think perhaps it's because people (morons) see our house, and think we've got a lot of money, little do they know that both my husband and son are disabled, and I'm the sole carer,and we've struggled for years to own our house, which now has to be sold, due to my husband being so ill, hence I'm trying to get the garden nice.

unfortunately this behaviour can be seen all over Sheffield, and seems to get worse each year. I have similar problems with two families on my street ........ and their many many friends. The youth's parents do not care what they do, and often encourage the behaviour...... so, it never ends. You can just imagine in a few years, these little thugs will go on to have little morons of their own.

I'd like to say it can be easily sorted with CCTV or police intervention, but it isn't that simple. We've been in "discussion" with the police for over 18 months, and things calm down when we have a few days of police patrols, then it starts up again once the police patrols stop..... or when the police suggest that they don't know who these youth's are.
