Which song has you dancing and singing round your living room? Which one do you have to sing along to?

I'd probably pick something by Abba, 'Take a Chance On Me', for example, or maybe something corny like 'Let Your Love Flow', or perhaps something from the 80s: 'My Favourite Waste of Time' by Owen Paul, 'Sometimes' by Erasure or 'Sweet Little Mystery' by Wet Wet Wet. Oh, and 'Pure' by the Lightening Seeds.

Which songs always manage to put you in a good mood?

Katrina and the Waves, I'm Walking on Sunshine. Reminds me of being a kid, and I just can't help wanting to dance like a prat!

Mine would be Walking on Sunshine as well it's such a feel good song.
My second choice would perhaps be Reach (for the sky) as that always gets the toes tapping and the party flowing.

Nice!

Brown Eyed Girl - Van Morrison. That's got to be a top contender. Also Don't Stop Me Now by Queen, that's just awesome for making you feel about ten feet tall, and is about a cocaine rush, so I've heard!

I read an article in a magazine recently about uplifting songs. There has been a scientific study done and officially the most uplifting song is ... Wake up Boo! by the Boo Radleys. It has the right lyrics, harmonies and melodies mixology or summat like that.

For me it has to be Shiny Happy People REM. Groove is in the Heart Dee Lite, Stay this way Brand New Heavies, Cosmic Girl Jamiroquai and Laid by James - I can't help but smile to any of these songs.ooh and Sir Duke Stevie Wonder!

Sheila Take a Bow's incredibly happy!

There is a Light that Never Goes Out - granted, it's about being hit by a bus, but it's still happy. :)

And many many more (as they used to say on Ronco adverts)

yes yes - you are correct - there are the high , upbeat songs granted - im simply playing on the stereotype of morrissey coupled with morbisity . Im crazy about the man really and i personally find his songs and lyrics uplifting rather than depresseing or whatever.

I can't think of a 'happiest' one, but a few uplifting songs that spring to mind are:-

Supergrass - Alright
Scissor Sisters - I Don't Feel Like Dancing
The Monkees - Daydream Believer

There must be absolutely loads more like those if you keep thinking long enough.

Although widely regarded as miserablists, I would like to nominate the Jesus and Mary Chain's "Come On". Also the Go-Betweens' "Right Here". More obviously, the Beatles "I Feel Fine" and Shangri Las "Heaven Only Knows".

That song just makes me angry.

Oh dear... :P

Yes, I can see that its relentless up-tempo'ness and jollity could be infuriating and make you want to put your foot through the stereo if you weren't quite in the right mood... :P But it always manages to raise my spirits :)

It's a song about waking up. Waking up makes me upset. They should have done one about staying asleep.

Do you know, that's an excellent point. I hate waking up as well. Hmm... well, I've never heard "Wake Up Boo" first thing in the morning, so maybe if I did, my radio might end up being thrown out of the window! :P I can't be doing with chirpy first thing in the morning :D

It was released in 1985 or 86, as I recall, at which time my O Levels were but a speck on the horizon. Are you sure you're not getting it mistaken with the song of theirs that won Eurovision about ten years later?
