Budgens? Jemma  Please, form a reasoned argument if you're going to post! K x munky 05-02-2005, 21:06 Oi, Krustian. . I guess you never read the whole "Blond, fake beggar thread". . FYI Gemma is the blond lass who fakes begging in and around town. . but I dunno what or where Budgens is though. . Andy 05-02-2005, 21:08 Budgens is a small supermarket in West One. There has been a begger outside the last few evenings when I have been in. I'm suprised Budgens haven't had him removed. Nanan 05-02-2005, 22:08 I think it's barry. tinkabel 05-02-2005, 22:57 Originally posted by Nanan I think it's barry. Who's Barry? dinp 05-02-2005, 22:59 Originally posted by tinkabel Who's Barry? Is he the fat man with the blue/cream coat who looks like he's overindulged on the pies??? Tracie 06-02-2005, 09:24 No, this is a short, very thin looking man. He sits outside Budgens and asks for change when you go in. Last night when I came out he said 'you must have some change now'. Eeeek. I find that sort of thing quite intimidating, probably because it makes it harder to say no. The security guard was in Budgens when I went in, but I don't think anyone had asked the guy begging to move. I surprised they didn't. Ghosthunter 06-02-2005, 09:32 Big Barry the Begger? Tracie 06-02-2005, 10:36 Originally posted by JonJParr That's outrageous! What did you say to him TracieJC? I just mumbled 'Sorry' and walked off at a slightly accelerated speed. Actually I've just been into Budgens on my way into work and he's there again, small guy with a green hat. ultracynic 06-02-2005, 14:50 hmmm, intimidating people into giving them money - that's a gemma special. tbh, i am surprised that there have been no beggars on that spot before with there being a nice wooden seat to sit on and it being out of the rain. my girlfriend doesn't like going to that shop on her own now. PERHAPS BUDGENS SHOULD DO SOMETHING AS THEY ARE GOING TO LOSE CUSTOM OVER THIS. Andy 06-02-2005, 15:25 We quite often get beggers harassing people using our cash machines. If we ask them politely they sometimes move - if not, we find call to the city centre ambassadors is quite effective, and the ambassadors respond quicker than the police do. stevie1957 06-02-2005, 23:07 Originally posted by Ghosthunter Big Barry the Begger? I bumpted into him a few years (1998) later in Sheffield. He looked a little unkemp and sadly he didn't look too well. I gave im my phone number and asked him to get in touch which he never did. His family home was in Millhouses. I think his sister still lives in that area. Barry was a very tall and broad person who liked to have a drink. He would be around 60 now. Kristian 07-02-2005, 17:04 I've sent you a PM Stevie. Thanks for the update. K x Carborundum 25-08-2005, 21:42 What was that Big Barry Bolton the Beggar Bumming for Bucks outside Budgens ? That usually works on Gemma and her ilk. Though I suppose if i was 5'2" instead of looking like a not bald Phil Mitchell then I might get a bit more stick so I can sympathise with those on t'forum who do feel intimidated by them. scotia 26-08-2005, 10:12 really peeeeed me off the other night have been very ill for 7 wks... had been to the doctors got a prescription 5:45pm hubby said will we go straight to town get your script at the Wicker then have a meal at Wetherspoons.....trying to boost me up a bit Yeaa that sounded nice Chicken breast pieces in batter,Pilau rice, prawn crackers and a lovely sauce/dip and a hot chocolate to die for sure beats hubbies meals lol lol hubby ...bless him ....could see i was tired out but trying hard to smile etc just lifted my fork for the first bite, when this big and i mean big lad came over " i am trying to get myself something to eat,you couldnt give me £1 could you " hubby " No i cant mate." lad " well you have you to have at least 20p then " he looked over at me the look in my eyes to him, dont know how he managed to walk away,he never said another word he turned and walked away, went to another table i know i shouldnt have and probably if i had felt a bit stronger...i wouldnt have gotten so upset, not kinda known as a softie dont know where the tears came from they just ran down my face of course by the time i collected myself, the meal was cold, but i ate it bit by bit. hubby wanted to complain etc, normally i would have done i just wanted peace when i went to the loo on the way out, turns out he did complain but of course it was too late...the lad was gone Swan_Vesta 26-08-2005, 11:24 Originally posted by Saifa With beggars I've always found a forceful "I cant help you pal" delivered as walking off usually does the job. Completely agree, as a large lad I don't worry about them either but I do feel for those who feel threatened. Can't be nice, but I suppose that's what these people play upon. In response to TracieJC's post about "You must have change now?" I've had this but my reply was "Paid on switch mate" it shut him right up. slimsid2000 26-08-2005, 13:33 Originally posted by Kristian Is Barry Bolton a beggar?
