recently bought my daughter a telescope and shes very interested in astronomy. the telescope isnt that powefull and iwas thinking of taking her to a proper observatory, anyone got any idea if theres anything in sheffield . cheers brooksy.:)
Don't think there's any in sheffield (too much sodium lighting;)).
The nearest one i think is the one @ Jodrell Bank near Macclesfield.
You could build your own (http://www.mvobservatory.f9.co.uk/).:D
There's the Sheffield Astronomical Society (http://www.sheffieldastro.org.uk/) which may be of interest??

OK, so it's not a *real* observatory, but these guys have a 'mobile planetarium' which is great. They're sometimes at Magna during school hols - well worth a trip.

You are welcome to visit us at any of our meeting and we can help you get into observing. We can also show you some semi-professional telescopes.
