Swan_Vesta 10-12-2007, 11:34 Any ideas how I can dispose of an old mattress? Its a double one and wont fit in my car :( I disposed of a double mattress in my little fiesta earlier this year. What you do is fold it over thrice and feed a noose over one end and pull it til you're unable to get it any tighter, do this twice more and the mattress is easily transportable. ultracynic 10-12-2007, 15:12 Earlier this year I phoned sheffield council as I had a similar problem. Council: do you live in a council house? Me: no Council: are you on benefits? Me: no Council: that will be £30 then. Was tempted to say I will go and leave it outside the council house of someone on benefits then. Surely council tax covers this and where you live and whether your are on benefits should not affect the cost of disposal. MinxyKitten 10-12-2007, 15:15 I know its very unfair, surely paying council tax should count for something! I live on a busy road though and I dont dare dump it in the street, just resent paying the council £30 to collect it |
