The single-decker was travelling along Rivelin Valley Road, Rivelin, Sheffield, when the tree blew over at around 8.10am. It smashed the windscreen and dented the roof. South Yorkshire Police were called out but nobody was injured. It is not known whether there were any passengers on-board the bus at the time. Strange, because it didn't seem particularly windy at that point. My thoughts are with the family at this time:| The sad thing is, as it fell it cried out for help, but as no one was there to hear it, it made no noise:sad: boyfriday 07-12-2007, 13:04 ...does anyone know if Rivelin Valley Road has re-opened? They feel the need to drop their conkers as the sap rises. before you know it they want to branch out everywhere leafing their roots & spreading out under the chesnut tree. Some choose to go to warmer climates like the beech but others stay & endure the rigours of winter. He said the demise of the tree will be looked at by special branch to ensure no foul play. The funeral will take palce at the local sawmill". Those attending are asked not to bring flowers but make a donation to the listed charity http://www.treesforlife.org.uk/helping/pat_life.html |
