View Full Version : Help - know a good place to park stockerz 04-02-2005, 17:43 I am attending the octagon at Sheffield university, tommorrow night 5th February. Can anybody advise where the best place to park is. Thanks Strix 04-02-2005, 17:56 Search 'parking'. I've posted a link with all the parking (car parks and on street) in sheffield somewhere before. viking 05-02-2005, 07:00 Parking near the university is a mare. I go there every day. I drive to meadowhall, then get a tram to the uni. £2.60 return and takes 1/2 hour from Meadowhall to uni.Trams are every 10 minutes. Ousetunes 05-02-2005, 07:24 As parking is nigh on impossible due to pathetic restrictions and the Children's Hospital being nearby, what I recommend is both convenient and free. Park on Crookes Valley Road, opposite Crookes Valley Park and walk through Weston Park. Believe me, this will save you a load of stress. If you are approaching the Octagon from University Roundabout follow the signs to Walkley, thus the Arts Tower will be on your left. Then as you approach Mushroom Lane, it's a clearway so you are perfectly alright to park on the right hand side. This is also good should anyone have the need to visit the Children's Hospital, heaven forbid. algy 05-02-2005, 09:07 The University surface carparks except the one by the Arts Tower are left open after 6pm and the public can use them free of charge. There's one just behind the Octagon on the side road (next to the little multi-storey )where there's usually plenty of space stockerz 05-02-2005, 12:52 Thanks for all your help. Algy I will try the car park that you mentioned. Thanks again goldenfleece 05-02-2005, 13:05 If that main car park is full, depends what events are on at the Octagon, sometimes big gigs can fill that car park, there are plenty of smaller ones open and unrestricted at the weekend owned by the Uni. The road that runs up by the side of the harley Hotel has small one right at the very top, and if you turn right just before that car park, there is another one down that side road at the end on the right before the dual carraigeway, right opposite Uni tram stop. I always use that one, never usually busy and very easy to get straight out onto the ring road from. algy 05-02-2005, 13:53 Originally posted by goldenfleece there is another one down that side road at the end on the right before the dual carraigeway, right opposite Uni tram stop. If I remember rightly the last time I passed there they'd starting building work on those car parks by the tram stop. stockerz 06-02-2005, 09:56 I managed to get parked on the car park at the back of the octagon. I was suprised that it was so easy to get away from after the event. Not like when you go to the big events at the arena. Thanks for all the advice |
