Hi guys.
Although most of the photos I take are colour and will remain that way, I do feel that there are certain images that work better in B&W. Especially images with strong lighting or graphic like patterns.
Here's a few that I think work better in monochrome. I'd like to hear what you think and please don't be afraid to criticise.
Cheers.

Some excellent pictures there (esp the first one)... although all that grey does make me realise how important colour pictures are!

1, 5 and 7 really benefit from the BW treatment; colour would distract from the strong patterns. Not so sure about the rest; I would have to see the originals to judge whether there is an improvement or not. 2 looks like it might actually be better with a bit of colour.........

Thanks for the comments guys:thumbsup:

Moonlight, I totally agree about too much grey when viewing a lot of B&W photos together. That's why I feel a picture has to be a very strong image with good shapes/lines/lighting to have impact without the need for colour.

PeteM01, I was thinking along the same lines. The waterwheel does look fine in colour as the wheel itself is dark grey anyway so there is very little difference in them.

Pattricia, it does seem that the images actually sharpen when the colour is taken out. Also the lens on my camera is a Carl Zeiss which is one of the best despite the large zoom range it covers (always a problem for maintaining quality across it's range). Other than that, all I do is hold the camera as steady as possible while taking the shot which is relatively easy these days with image stability incorporated into the camera.
