I know a few of the forum members live in and around Stannington and for those that do what do you think it is missing?

Recreational Facilities (if so what sort)
Launderette
Youth Clubs
Dinner Clubs

What else would you like to see in the area?

As for recreational facilities, oh they could and should've done so much more with the Pinegrove on Myers Grove Lane, but alas they started getting the bar full of chavs and eventually the place got arson-ised :(

Typical response from a Leeds fan.....
deanprez if you know the area at all you'll know that the council estates, high rise flats and maisonnettes are far from your description, in fact it is designated an area of deprivation.

The number 81 bus is often missing. I think they reach Roscoe Bank and then disapear down a black hole never to be seen again. It is one of the great mysteries of the world.

Very true. It would be better to bull down those buildings, rehouse the people in a more suitable area (say Wybourn, Manor) and build a small number of luxuary houses on the land. This would do wonders to improve the area and increase house prices.

I doubt the council are brave enough to do it. Not very PC I'm afraid.

ps. The area where the flats are is not Stannington but Roscoe Bank/Hall Park Head. Peopel who live there and say they live at Stannington are like those people from Totley Brook who say they live at Dore. They do not. People should be honest about where they live.

Why, where do you live...

...and make sure it's not Knowle Top, Upper Gate, Nethergate or Park Side.

Oh, but that won't matter will it, 'cos they're full of "nice" people too.

Don't forget you only live in Stannington if you pay your tax to Bradfield parish council, the boundry that is till in effect runs from the Sportsman pub to the top of Rails Road, all this lower Stannington upper/malin bridge stuff is a load of ****. I am just inside the boundry at Rails Road end. Not sure where the boundry lies in the other directions heading to Rivelin and Loxley Valley.

I used to live in the maisonettes and the insides are really sapacious and nice, they're soundproof so you can make all the noise you want and it WAS a nice area but we moved back up becuase in the space of a few months the area got run down.

I think the youth club still runs in the church hall doesn't it? A small gym facility would do me.

It badly needs levelling off. It's too steep.

Now, you see, your wrong there, Stannington's nice and flat...

...it's the nearby "steep" areas that are "pretending" to be Stannington just giving it a bad name.
