Hi, I am in sheffield next Fri (11th Feb 2005) and I fancy a mad night out clubbing . I like progressive dance music.

Could someone be so kind enough to give me some names of top clubs...

Well there's pin-up at the room (previously known as the fez club open till 3am). Thumping good house music. And the mighty urban gorilla at zero which is my preferred choice for a Friday evening (open 10-6am). Mostly breaks, but open minded and plays a whole range of styles. www.urban-gorilla.co.uk

Im from Jersey in the Channel Islands and havent really been clubbing in th UK for bout 15 yrs...

Dont wanna turn up to the clubs and get knocked back at the door for the wrong clothes / shoes

jeans, trainers and ironically cool t-shirt seems to be the de-riguer(?)

honest, its whatever you feel comfortable in, but the above will suffice...

look at me not mentioning mullets or wristbands. you may not want to leave UG to late as Xpress2 may have a reasonable following.... and if i do make it, let me win on streetfighter...as i am poo

How many rooms are there at this gurillas club . It says that there is a 4 hour set of Techno the night in question .. Do they have other rooms where it will just be breaks etc..

not looked at their website today... but...

Its a nice little club....one main room, with a few beanbags kicking around etc..... it will be whatever xpress throw out for poss 2hours im guessing, the rest will be breaks, i would imagine.

there always seems to be credit in the streetfighter machine, it may be mine, i play, i lose, i scamper off to dance...mate to be fair I could play myself at streetfighter and lose.

Last week, my mem not to good, and all that, think they dropped a 90's classic donna summer at 5.30am as closing track, cue me and others running to dance floor to jump up and down like 6yr old children on a bed.

hustle is a really good night they always have a good dj line up

X-Pres-2 is this friday, i believe nick is visiting next friday when slam are playing. It's not really techno, but their style is quite tough.

There's no dress code. You'd get in wearing a bin bag if you wanted.

Zero's the best dance club in Sheffield, & probably one of the best in country. Go to urban gorilla, you'll love it! I go to Zero most weekends, you always know they'll have something good on.

Zero is a club on Matilda St, Urban Gorilla is a weekly Friday night event at afore mentioned club.

Sorry for any confusion! As Jake said, Zero is the name of the club. Whilst every friday is Urban Gorilla, they have something different every saturday. My favorite is Sneak, the drum + bass night. Ratpack last month was awesome! There's also Razor Stiletto (Electronica/disco/rock) and Hustle (House), can't remeber what the other night is right now.

The other night is the mighty PLANET ZOGG!!

Its a trance/techno night and theres a Valentine special this saturday 12th Feb.

Right then...Bar Matrix....seems to be the natural warm up bar for .... Pin Up@ Fez/Room .... as there are next door to each other. its open till one will prob charge you £2 to get in, unless thats just me. Its also not to far to UG from there although I have never taken the same route twice.

Regards directions.... its ....not a sure, plays house and takes cards over the bar, not sure if thats a good thing or not.

The best club (when its on) by a long way is Crasher, but UG wins the regular club title.

Jackhammer is a hard/acid techno night that was at Pitsmoor. It hasn't been on since December though :-(

Crasher is great if you love cheesy trance. Sounds cliched but it used to be so much better.

Yes its not as good as some of the belters that were around in 99 such as pearl river, gamesmaster etc etc but some of the tunes that are played now are absolutly amazing!!!

I just wish they would stop putting on classics nights so we could hear some of them on that new soundsystem!!!!
