I was just wondering which is the easyist way to get one back and what i'd need to do??? Is there some where in sheffield i could just walk into or what? I honestly dont have a clue seen as its a form of I.D. Any one know?

I believe there are websites that offer to get the certificates for you, but they just charge you over the odds for something you can do yourself!!! So stick to Government sites, they'll be the cheapest.

I wrote a letter to the Wedding cake thing in Sheffield when I lost my certificate a couple of years ago, they asked for as much info as I could give them and I could remember the name of the registrar. I also added my parents names and my NI number- within a couple of weeks I had a new certificate.

All these things are stored at the General Register Office (http://www.gro.gov.uk) and they'll give you a copy for around a tenner or so.

If you were born in Sheffield you can obtain a certificate while you wait at the Register Office (back of the Town Hall) - just fill in the form and pay £7. You can also obtain a certificate via the G.R.O. website (link above) for the same fee, payable by credit/debit card. You don't need any form of identification for either method, just your name and date/place of birth.
