any1 know how i can let azureus work? when i try to load it norton picks it up and says 'norton internet worm protection has detected and blocked an intrusion attempt'
its a javaw.exe file thats the problem.
ideas? i cant see where there is a option to allow this to work without letting a lot of bad things attack my comp!
It is just part of the Java and should not be being stopped by Norton. All i can think is that it has picked it up as a weakness and spat the dummy out. AVG7 did this with me, saying i had a virus called JavaByteVaryfy. It wasn't a virus but a weakness that could be exploited and so AVG7 started showing off about it ;).
I would just uninstall Norton altogether but i suppose that's not very helpful to you.
At least you know it's not a virus though :o .
get AVG... Norton sucks and is a major resource hog!
Lol i use norton and havent had any problems atall with it yet.
ideas?
Change client to bit tornado. It does just about everything azureus does without the resource hogging java crap running in the background. It doesnt look as nice but never mind :)

From what you've described it definatly sounds like you have a virus thats trying to kick in when Java starts up. Have you tried updating Norton and running a complete disk scan?
JavaByteVaryfy
That was actually a virus. It only affected (the now defunct) Microsofts Java VM which you probably don't have. Doesn't affect Sun Java (which you probably do have - if you have a Java VM installed).
See this: http://java.com/en/download/help/cache_virus.xml
I keep getting this with AVG too. Oddly it seems to happen when I play chess on yahoo. Maybe its a bug?
thanks...i went for torrent storm program... working fine
ive been told to get rid of norton by quite a few... heard a few mention 'zone alarm' i will have to see.
thanks for replies
do NOT get zonealarm. i pops up and disturbs yer programs constantly and bugs the hell out of u. just use windows firewall and windows spyware remover.

Once Zone Alarm has a response for each of your programs it just about stops bugging you. It''s not a bad firewall just a bit annoying at times.
Get Agnitum Outpost- miles better than Nortons
or Nod32 for your virus killing.
