I posted some time ago about my semi feral cat. He used to be a great big softie domestic puss but moved out when we moved house and had kids. He now lives across the road in the woods with the foxes but comes back for food once a day. My other cat, still much more domesticated but slowly turning more feral and also living in adoration of foxes, still actually comes home all the time.
We are moving house and I was concerned that it might be cruel to take the more feral tom cat but you all assured me that it would be better to take him (at least he would be fed that way).
Our move is looming now and I have concerns about both cats having to be kept in with our toddlers and being very able to escape given the layout of our current house, also the HUGE upheaval which will upset both of them enormously.
I would really like to temporarily foster them out to someone for approx 6 - 10 days to overlap before and after the move, to guarantee they come with us and don't escape and lose trust to come back to us in time. Also to slightly redomesticate the tom.
Can anyone help me with this please? I don't want to put them in kennels, they've never been in them and it would make us all unhappy.
Naturally I'm willing to provide all food, cat litter, trays, flea stuff, worming tablets etc etc and a small amount of cash besides.
Both cats like older kids but dislike toddlers. Netiher are keen on dogs. Both fairly tolerant of other cats and of each other. Big bossy brother -annoying little sister relationship between the two of them. Neither have any health issues. One is a great big, black, half-siamese tom, the other is a pretty stupid, dinky, little, calico tabby.
Please let me have any recommendations or offers ASAP, I need to know that any cat sitter is trustworthy and genuinely loves cats.
Approx dates around 13-23rd Dec, depending on dates we can get cats in our house and transported.
Hoping to hear from someone.
Regards
Z

My attic is empty most of the time- it's not glamorous, still under construction, but free of other cats and the dog. I put mums with litters who need a bit of peace and quiet up there sometimes. Dry, clean and warm (and 2 doors between there and the outside ;))

If you are short of offers for more salubrious places then I'll happily give them the space.

Meds you are a star. Thankyou, it sounds ideal. (Well, ideal for two such strange characters as my moggies :) ) Salubrious is not required at all but I can keep your offer on the back burner if you prefer?
( this means I'll have to create a plan to catch Mr Elusive sometime soon!)
Umm, also, how much is board and lodging for felines please?

If you get any luxury offers (or anyone who's really close and convenient for you) then feel free to accept their rooms over mine!

I don't really have a going rate- my spaces are usually given freely for charity. How about a donation to the Shelter or SYAR and a culinary treat for all the beasties?

That sounds fine Meds, thanks. I'm also planning on donating all our old towels to a cat rescue place if I can.
I'll be in touch regarding addresses, dates etc etc soon.
