It's only a trivial matter and illustrates my sheer bone-idleness. But can anybody explain why the large car-wash at Neepsend is closed?

Maybe they've gone on their holidays? Is there a water shortage!! (Not yet)

I miss the romance of sitting in my car as all that lather descends on my dirty, filthy motor. Then the brushes, followed by the steamy heat which makes all the little drops of water run up the windscreen.

There is a good carwash in Darnal that has 3-colour foam :)

is it because the new ring road is going past/thru that area as that is the reason the road in sptial fields is closed, if that is the case than it probably wont reopen

Yeah, the ring road is coming straight through there. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole hill disappears.

Yes, the whole site (which was once railway sidings I believe) is being cleared and levelled.

There's a drive-though car wash on the corner of Holywell Road and Upwell Street in Brightside which is fun (if you dig that).

Thanks for your replies. Silly me never thought about the inner ring road but I'd certainly guess you are right.

I find it quite sad because I used to go there in the seventies with my late father, that is when there were about 6 car washes to choose from, not to mention the separate garages where you could wash your car yourself.

Oh well, time rolls on.

cant belive anybody would want to scratch thier paintwork - by putting it through a car wash!
