mighnt sound like a daft question but when a pope is installed at the vatican why do they always seem to be comatosed and ready for clocking off. call me nieve but woudnt it make sense to have one a bit younger, in other words someone you mighnt get a few miles out of. dont meen any disrespect to anyone with this post but woudnt it make sense?. i no generally its a long job working there way to this position at the vatican, but i dont think anyone under 70 has ever been pope. just a thought anyway.

If they get a young pope and hes crap they have ages waiting for him to die, who ever heard of a pope being sacked. So have a old pope and if he's crap you olny have to put up with him a short time.:loopy: :suspect: :hihi: :hihi: Sorry but couldn't resist the temptation open the doors to hell here I come .

Well JP has been Pope for quite some years now - 20+ without checking?

Someone once told me it's because they don't have a company retirement plan for Popes so they just can't afford to jack their job in. ;)

I think cos if they get a bad one he won't be there very long.

And if they have difficulty choosing they put in a caretaker Pope. The Pope is chosen from Cardinals and it's a long way to rise to be a Cardinal so they are not young.

Anyway, what is wrong with being old?

I take it that God is getting on a bit now too?

I thought he was also the youngest pope we've ever had?

like any other job its down to the time you put in.
promotion to a higher rank etc.

and its common knowledge that the older you are,the more experience you have,

so the idea is.......spend fifty or so years in the job,get loads of experience...and one day you just might end up as the managing director

bit like the young tea lad working his way up to be the governor

perhaps our government should have followed suit and put an older, more experienced man in charge, then we wouldnt have a yankee lap dog as governour of the firm

And what's always fascinated me is.........what's his job? What the bloody hell does he do? How much does it cost to keep him?

The Cardinals choose the Pope, and they in turn buckled under pressure from the Choir boys who know the older Popes can't run as fast :heyhey:

Except on tonight's news, where he appeared to have caught a couple and was displaying them at the window.

I think JP2 was elected due to a clerical (no pun intended) error. The message read, "We need another 'Pole'."
