You should have no problems. The Arbourthorne refurbishment programme has just started and all the building firms are desperate for workers and trainees. The Jobcentre should be able to point you in the right direction.

If you get nowhere with the Jobcentre you could write direct to Sheffield Rebuild Ltd, Woodbourn Business Centre, Woodbourn Rd., Sheffield S9 3HY. If you get set on there they will train you up to NVQ level 2.

Write to local firms is your best bet mate.
Either that or try to contact the C I T B (construction Industry Training Board) im sorry but i havent a contact number but they sort out apprentiships , you may be too old for this as they are a goverment run thing ment for people just out of school but a 21 year old was on when i was doing my joinery apprentiship

The CITB is at Bircham Newton, King's Lynn, Norfolk. I know that doesn't sound like a full address but any letter will reach them there.

Have you seen the job advert from Lovells in todays Star?

I have been in touch with city college, looking for a student to help decorate, plaster, wall paper stripping, fitting, joinery, plumbing etc, on a property I am buying.

The college will use the work you do on the property for your unit assesments, towards your award, which will help you to pass quicker and I can also give you a reference for your work.

If your not on a placement, you could still help me in with the practical stuff, in return for a fab ref / experiance, as most of your work will be on word of mouth.

I should get the keys in the next couple of weeks.

PM me if you are intrested.

Sorry I haven't replied before - been away for the weekend.

Lovells advertised for 'Site staff at all levels'. Address to write to is Mrs J Harrison, Lovell partnership Ltd, Units R7D & R7E, 1st floor Riverside Block, Sheaf Bank Business Park, Prospect Rd, Sheffield S2 3EN phone 2555594.

If you are wanting an NVQ in Construction check with Sheffield College BEFORE you sign up as there is some doubt wether they are accredited.
