View Full Version : Converting a video onto a dvd deanprez 02-02-2005, 15:54 Anyone point me in the right direction to someone that can put a video i have onto dvd, thank's !! Fairydreams 02-02-2005, 16:01 Many photo places (e.g. Jessops) will offer this service. If, however, you have quite a few you want to convert you might find it cheaper / better to buy a DVD Camcorder with S-Video in. alchresearch 02-02-2005, 20:56 I can do it for you if you like. I do it professionally every day, so one extra won't make much difference. PM me and i'll give you my details. wendy 04-03-2005, 10:07 I should also like to do this but I have more than 1 tape possibly up to 5 (all old family cine films put onto video by my late father so very precious to me) - I've Pm'd you alchresearch. Bikertec 04-03-2005, 13:55 With the price of DVD writers now wouldn't it be easier to buy a writer and a TV card and do it your self. :) wendy 04-03-2005, 14:10 Originally posted by Bikertec With the price of DVD writers now wouldn't it be easier to buy a writer and a TV card and do it your self. :) Bikertec I already have a writer but wasn't sure if all I needed was a tv card. Can you confirm this is all I require? I've never done this before and it would be lovely to have them on DVD. I was watching one of them last night seemed really funny seeing myself as a 13 year old at my older sister's wedding. Embarrassing too! I am assuming that with the correct equipment I would just hook up the video player to my computer. Is this correct? What software would you use to record it with though? Not done this before new area for me. alchresearch 04-03-2005, 20:03 Hardware needed: Some sort of 'capture' device - either an internal card or an external USB / Firewire box which contains audio and video inputs - usually in the form of phono sockets. If buying a TV card, ensure that it does have a capture facillity, and that it is capable of capturing in PAL resolution (720 x 480). This (http://www.microdirect.co.uk/ProductInfo.aspx?ProductID=6895&GroupID=0) seems to be a good PCI capture card. I use this (http://www.divx.com/hardware/detail.php?p=1) and this (http://www.pinnaclesys.com/ProductPage_n.asp?Product_ID=1884&Langue_ID=2) to capture my video. Software: Video editing software. If you have Windows XP you can use Movie Maker, but I prefer to use Nero Visionexpress and Adobe Premiere. I did get Pinnacle Studio 9 and Intervideo WinDVD creator bundled with my capture devices though. wendy 04-03-2005, 20:53 Thanks Andy I might nip down to the computer fair tomorrow and see what I can get. Bikertec 16-03-2005, 21:07 Just to remind you wendy its tomorrow if you want one. alchresearch 16-03-2005, 22:03 I'm going to get at least two or three from my local store. I'm lucky as I live in quite a snobbish suburb and most locals don't set foot in there, so there's usually a lot of computer gear in! So if anyone isn't able to grab one, PM me and you can have it for cost price. wendy 17-03-2005, 12:39 Originally posted by Bikertec Just to remind you wendy its tomorrow if you want one. Thanks for the reminder:thumbsup: My daughter is going down to the retail park later (I'm at work) so I've rung her and asked her to pick me one up - no doubt she will ring me if she can't work out what they are. wendy 17-03-2005, 12:51 My daughter just phoned me back seems like she got the last one at Meadowhall Retail Park's Aldi. looks like you might have some takers on your offer alchresearch! alchresearch 17-03-2005, 18:24 The stocks didn't come in until 1pm today. All excellent quality and extremely good value for money! mr.blaze 17-03-2005, 18:56 Am I blind? Cheers :) Bikertec 18-03-2005, 00:03 I haven't had time to try it yet but will let you know. Scutts 18-03-2005, 10:01 I'll ensure you're the top of the list though.
