I don`t know about the ambulances but the police may have been there to close the road from the Old Harrow to White lane because Severn Trent are working on the road for the next 2 weeks.

Woman badly injured in tram crash
A woman suffered life-threatening head injuries when she was hit by a tram in Sheffield.
The 47-year-old woman, from Gleadless, was walking along an unlit section of track near White Lane when the accident happened on Monday night.

A police spokesman said: "The driver of the tram applied the emergency brake and sounded the horn but was unable to avoid a collision with the pedestrian."

The injured woman is being treated at the city's Northern General Hospital.

Nobody aboard the tram was injured in the incident.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact the South Yorkshire Police accident witness line on 0114 220 2970.

Any idea what happened tonight (27th)? Was on tram from town about 9pm and it stopped at Arbourthorne road and we all had to get off and walk to city road for buses. Accident near Hollinsend tramstop apparantly? No trams running as far as I know to Halfway!

All I can say is that this woman must be some sort of dumpling to be walking along this section of the tram track in the dark where there is no footpath or other kind of provision for pedestrians. Whatever was she using for brains, doing what she did would amount to gross stupidity in broad daylight, never mind in the dark. :loopy:

You must remember that on White lane there are half way houses for the mentally ill.I am not saying it was one of these people but I should reserve judgement if I were you.

I didn't know that mate. If she was mentally ill then I apologise to anyone who may have been offended by my previous comments.

Two cars collided at the traffic lights and their wreckage blocked the tracks so the trams couldnt run their full route.
