View Full Version : Norfolk Park regeneration
martinsake 26-11-2007, 11:38 Hi, I'm a student of the University of Sheffield. I'm currently writing a report on private and public partnership success in the regeneration process of Norfolk park.
Please I will like to know the residents' views on how successful the private partnerships i.e the local authority and the private firms involved in the regeneration were in communicating and working with the community in the regeneration process.
Thanks for your anticipated cooperation
cgksheff 26-11-2007, 12:30 .....and?
.
purdyamos 26-11-2007, 14:59 Did you get a good response when you went to Norfolk Park and spoke to people who lived there?
I deliver on there, and it seems to me a high percentage of the new flats/houses are rented out, not that many people are buying them to live in themselves.
Also the letterboxes used to be on the wall outside the flats, within 3 months they all had to be moved inside due to vandalism.
So i'm unsure what is meant by 'successful', but the only place i'd actually live is Queens Towers, due to it all being gated off.
.....and?
Thats a helpful attitude.

Well said Andrew

Massive contributions from you two, then?
The original post, whilst indicating a desire, failed to outline exactly what sort of response/information it was expecting from this forum.
As a member of this forum, I often see students using this site as an easy way out.
I would expect a student that was asking questions about the effectiveness of communication, to be a bit more effective in that field than we saw in the original post.
Perhaps your initial comment could have been more helpful, even if it was just to suggest the thread starter try more field work/interviews with residents.

I highly doubt any student at Sheffield Uni would pass their research if it was based on forum quotes alone. I'm sure the OP has also done/will do field research, why not give them the benefit of the doubt?
Good luck martinsake, hope you manage to weed out a few informative responses
kellyanne 26-11-2007, 20:57 Hi,
i will try and give some relevant information....
I have lived on Norfolk Park for a few months now on the "newer" estate - and i really enjoy it - if you research on the internet though you will find out it used to be home to high rise flats which were eventually knocked down - my mum lived there as a young adult - Norfolk Park was once a fairly rough not to bad but was still part of S2 and thats not a dig - i was brought up on Park Hill so Norfolk Park was like heaven to me.
But over the past few years the re-generation has come along great boasting new properties, including Flats, Studios and Homes with the Tram Route running straight through - still in for modernisation is the local Horse & Lion Pub , the Park Grange Shops and some of the local graffiti but at the moment its well underway!!!
Hope this little bit of info helps!! need anything else just PM me.
martinsake 26-11-2007, 21:12 well, i'm sorry if i sounded a little irrational initially. it wasn't intentional. it's a qualitative research i'm making so i only need to write from texts and resources gathered. i never knew members of the forum can give me time for an interview. thanks for your points of correction and immense contribution, i so much appreciate.
apologies.
iamthemoon 27-11-2007, 10:36 love it when a slanging match erupts for no reason other than people standing on there salt pedestals!!!

Slanging match?!
Just not sure why cgksheff couldn't just say nothing at all unless he/she had something useful to say.

Click on the search facility and type "Norfolk". This will bring up numerous threads on Norfolk Park regeneration, etc.
I am a councillor for Norfolk Park. I have been interviewed in the past by journalist students. PM me if interested - but read my posts on various threads first (as they may answer your initial question).
Please be aware that at this time of the year, when students are beginning their new courses, the forum gets a lot of requests of this nature. For some readers they are intensely irritating for a variety of reasons. You have been warned!
Best wishes with your studies.
