Anyone recommend the best 'character' pubs left on london Road/ABbeydale Road? Not been on a pub crawl down there since 1984 and I think I may be in for a shock!!!!!!! POssibly a BIG shock if its like the City Centre for changes in 20 years......

Oh dear, it has gone down hill quite a bit. I've lived in the area most of my life and a lot of the character has gone. If I go out for a drink now I tend to go down Heeley rather than london road.

I generally go in the Cremorne. To be honest it seems to be the only pub on London Road that hasn't been taken over by footie-supporting scallies!!!!

The Earl, and the Sheaf View, which is a bit out of the way does some of the best beers in Sheffield.

Otherwise...best of luck

once the student flats are compleated there i believe that the class of pub will get dramatically better!!!

The landlady of the Sportsman pub, not far of London Road, seemed quite happy about the development.

I would think all the pubs/takeaways on there wil be happy!!!!

You wait mate it will be full of Starbucks, shinny expensive bars and worst of all bookshops.

Hopefully it will be good for the area.

Not crawled down London Road for several years and as it had become the regular haunt for beer sozzled trendies heading in to town I didn't enjoy the experience in the least. On Abbeydale Road I think I'd start [and probably stay] at the Broadfield with maybe a meander up to the Union in NetherEdge or over to Heeley and the White Lion.
